Erkan Aydın, who will serve as the 1987th term mayor of Osmangazi Municipality, which was established in 8, won the 31 March 2024 Local Administrations General Election by receiving 42 thousand 38 votes more than his closest rival. Erkan Aydın, who was elected as the new mayor of Osmangazi by receiving 227 thousand 876 votes, started the 2024-2029 service period by receiving his certificate of election. Aydin, who attended the ceremony held at BUSKİ Conference Hall with his wife and children, was welcomed by an enthusiastic crowd. Aydın, who came to the ceremony area accompanied by cheers and applause, received his certificate of registration from Osmangazi District Election Board.

Speaking at the memorandum ceremony, Osmangazi Mayor Erkan Aydın said, “Victory belongs to those who say it is mine. Success belongs to those who set out to succeed and finally say they did. We did it together. 37 thousand people of Osmangazi are responsible for this success that we, as the Republican People's Party, have achieved in Osmangazi for the first time in 230 years after the establishment of Osmangazi. Many people made efforts and contributions during this difficult process. I thank everyone. The labor and effort of each of them is endless. We are aware of the magnitude of the burden we take on. We will say, with the teachings of Sheikh Edebali, from now on, criticizing is yours, tolerance is ours, making mistakes is yours, and taking any pains about it is ours.
