Erdoğan Met with His Romanian Counterpart

President Erdoğan talked on the phone with Romanian President Lohannis

According to the news from the Directorate of Communications, it was stated that bilateral relations between Türkiye and Romania, global and regional issues were discussed during the meeting.

During the meeting, President Erdoğan emphasized that the two countries should increase their high-level dialogue, and that it would be useful to establish a High Level Strategic Cooperation Council mechanism between the two countries.

At the meeting, where Iohannis' candidacy for the post of NATO Secretary General was brought to the agenda, President Erdoğan stated that he will serve the security and interests of NATO countries in the face of global and regional challenges, especially terrorism, strengthen the unity of the Alliance, preserve and enrich the spirit of solidarity, and strengthen NATO's defense and security-related activities. He stated that a general secretary should be elected who will prioritize his primary role in consultations.
