Bursa Medical Chamber: Continue the Fight Until Violence in Health Ends

Bursa Medical Chamber Board of Directors made a press statement on the occasion of April 17, the Day for the Elimination of Violence in Health.

In the statement, it was emphasized that they will not give up the fight until the violence in healthcare ends, and said: "Our colleague Dr., who was murdered in the line of duty in Gaziantep. 12 years have passed since Ersin Arslan's death. On this day, which was declared "the day of combating violence in health" by TTB, Dr. "We respectfully commemorate all our lost colleagues, including Ersin Arslan, who are not among us today due to violence in healthcare."

In the statement, it was stated that the violence we have encountered in healthcare institutions and our work environments in the last 20 years has reached terrible levels and has become the most burning problem of us physicians/health workers, and added: "From the White Code data reflected to the public in 2023, we know that an average of more than 50 applications for violence in healthcare are made per day. Moreover, what we see in our studies is that more than half of the violence incidents in healthcare are not reported with a White Code. As healthcare professionals, we are exposed to verbal violence almost every day, and this is not recorded. Although it is known and accepted by everyone that we have difficulty in coping with violence in healthcare and that we even cannot breathe; The real reasons are still ignored and solutions for these reasons are not approached. Despite warnings and calls, the Ministry of Health still does not take any serious steps regarding violence in healthcare, Dr. We know that the reason why it is satisfied with insufficient legal regulations, as it was after the death of Ersin Arslan, is not a step towards ending violence in healthcare, but is aimed at protecting the system. Moreover, the Ministry of Health avoids sharing White Code data with us! However, as TTB, we can obtain this information, albeit limited, by court decision.”
