A Pink Miracle in Baltalimanı: Sakura Trees Are in Bloom!

In the Japanese Garden in Baltalimanı, Istanbul, the sakura trees heralding the arrival of spring with their pink flowers fascinate their visitors.

Baltalimanı Japanese Garden of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, which has become one of the symbols of spring in Istanbul, offers a visual feast to its visitors with its sakura trees (cherry blossoms). The doors of this garden, located on the European shore of the Bosphorus, open to a pleasant journey to Japanese culture, which fascinates with its nature.

Baltalimanı Japanese Garden, one of the representations of the friendship between Japan and Turkey, was realized on the occasion of 2003 being the 'Japanese Year in Turkey'. The garden, which is also an important symbol of the sister city agreement between Istanbul and Shimonoseki, known for their similarities, continues to fascinate Istanbulites with its magnificent atmosphere.

Built with Japanese architecture, the garden includes a natural pond, waterfall, lanterns, wooden bridge, Tea Room and various beautiful plants representing Japanese culture, especially the sakura tree (cherry blossom), which is one of the most important symbols of Japanese culture. The entrance gate of the garden, surrounded by Japanese-style walls, was designed inspired by the Bosphorus and the Shimonoseki Strait.

HOW TO GO?

Located on the coast of Sarıyer Baltalimanı, the Japanese Garden can be visited free of charge every day of the week between 08.00 and 17.00.

It is possible to reach it by sea by taking the İstinye-Çubuklu Car Ferry or by taking a half-hour coastal walk from İstinye Pier, or by getting off at Emirgan Pier via the Rumelikavağı-Eminönü Bosphorus Line and taking a 10-minute walk.

It can be reached by IETT buses, 22 and 22RE from Beşiktaş or İstinye, and 40T from Taksim, getting off at Baltalimanı stop.
