Republic's Journey to the Future with 23 April Express!

The Ministry of National Education has prepared a special event program, including a number of firsts, to celebrate the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day and the 104th anniversary of the opening of the Turkish Grand National Assembly with enthusiasm throughout the week.

Events were planned on April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day with the theme "From the Past to the Future, to the Century of Türkiye".

Within the scope of the April 23 celebrations that started today with the "Parliamentary Garden, Children's Garden and Science Festival", the Grand National Assembly of Turkey garden will be transformed into a children's garden and educational and entertaining science stands will be opened on determined themes.

Prizes will be given to the children who are ranked in the competitions in various branches, in events such as children's movie screenings such as Rafadan Tayfa, Galactic Tayfa, April 23 National Sovereignty Concert, mapping, light and laser shows.

As part of the April 23 celebrations, "Traditional Children's Games" activities are planned to take place in the Parliament garden for the first time.

Children will take a journey "from the establishment of the Republic to the next century" on the special train named "23 April Express", which will be opened with the participation of the Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin.

The cortege, accompanied by a band and with the participation of 3 thousand students carrying Turkish flags in their hands, will march to the Capital National Garden.

Within the scope of the activities, awards will be given to the students who ranked highest in the competition themed "Ataturk, National Sovereignty and April 22 Children's Day" organized by the Ministry on April 23.

In addition, on the same day, the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly will convene with a "Special Session for Children". Children will govern the Turkish Grand National Assembly in this session.

Ministry garden will be prepared for children

On the Eid day, a delegation consisting of Ministry bureaucrats, teacher representatives, students and parents, headed by Minister Tekin, will visit Anıtkabir, the eternal resting place of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

Tekin will later hand over his seat of office to the children on the occasion of April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day.

On the other hand, during this year's celebrations, the garden of the Ministry of National Education will be decorated for the first time and prepared for children. The garden will be enlivened with numerous events, workshops and traditional games. In addition to musical activities, science, art, marbling workshops, traditional games, inflatable toys, other surprises will be prepared for children.

A special copy of Hakimiyetimilliye newspaper for April 23 will also be distributed to students.

In addition, "Newspaper Child", prepared by the Ministry of Education Press and Public Relations Consultancy and containing Minister Tekin's interview with children and special messages for April 23 from many names, including Nobel Prize-winning scientist Aziz Sancar, will meet the little guests of the Ministry.

The spirit of the First Parliament will be revived

This year, the Ministry added a new one to the events in the First Parliament. In the event planned on April 24, 115 children will recreate the spirit of the first session on April 23, 1920 in the historical First Parliament building with special clothes. The session will include the opening speeches of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and Sinop Deputy Şerif Bey, who was elected as the President of the Assembly as the oldest member.

On the same day in the afternoon, students will discuss the 1000-year adventure of the Turkish nation in history and its future vision in the "2071 Parliament Session".
