In his message, President Uzun said; “April 23, 1920 is one of the most important turning points in our history. Our ancestors united under difficult conditions and did not compromise their independence, and as a result of great struggles, they opened the Turkish Grand National Assembly and declared the freedom of the Turkish nation and the sovereignty of the national will to the whole world. In this sense, the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye has been the pioneer of our future struggle.
We and our children will continue to be the protectors of the national will and nation's sovereignty by protecting this sacred trust, as we have for 104 years. We will continue to work tirelessly, with the strength we get from our glorious history and the energy we get from the smiling eyes of our children.
We commemorate all the heroes of our War of Independence, especially Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, with mercy and gratitude; “I congratulate the 104th anniversary of the opening of the Turkish Grand National Assembly and the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day with my most sincere wishes.” He stated:
