President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke at the Opening Ceremony of the Sirkeci-Kazlıçeşme Rail System and Pedestrian-Oriented New Generation Transportation Project.
“THE RAIL SYSTEM NETWORKS COMPLETED IN ISTANBUL INCREASED TO 340 KILOMETERS”
"Today, we are experiencing the joy of achieving our goal," said Erdoğan, adding, "Within the scope of our project, 7,3 kilometers of pedestrian paths, 7,3 kilometers of bicycle paths, 122 thousand 550 square meters of squares and recreation areas, 6 thousand square meters of closed social and cultural areas, 74 thousand square meters of new green areas." The area includes 14 pedestrian crossings and 13 road crossings. In other words, we will hopefully provide our city with an extremely modern transportation project that includes socio-cultural, tourism, sports, excursion, cycling and other opportunities beyond the rail system line. With the commissioning of this line, the total length of the rail system networks completed in Istanbul increases to 340 kilometers. "With our project, we have not only built the railway, but also made and are carrying out other arrangements that will increase the comfort of the people living in the surrounding area," he said.
At the end of his opening speech, President Erdoğan announced that the Sirkeci-Kazlıçeşme Rail System Line will be free for 15 days.
PEDESTRIAN-FOCUSED NEW GENERATION TRANSPORTATION PROJECT
The 8,3 kilometer Sirkeci-Kazlıçeşme Rail System Line consists of 8 stations. There are 20 artistic buildings around the line, which is planned to have a one-way journey time of 29 minutes.
Sirkeci-Kazlıçeşme Pedestrian-Oriented New Generation Transportation Project includes 7,3 kilometers of pedestrian and bicycle paths and 6 thousand square meters of indoor social and cultural areas.
The project, which consists of squares and recreation areas of 122 thousand 550 square meters and green areas of 74 thousand square meters, includes 22 highway and pedestrian underpasses.
