Hülya Avşar (born 10 October 1963, Balıkesir) is a Turkish actress, singer and presenter. He was born in Edremit as the first child of Emral and Celal (Elo) Avşar. He was called "malakan curri" in Kurdish by his family. This word means "blonde". Avşar, who is from Balıkesir on his mother's side, is from Hasköy and Ardahan on his father's side. Hülya Avşar is a member of the Avşar-Pirebat Kurdish tribe. His father Celal is Kurd and his mother Emral is from a family of Turkish origin. His mother is Yörük and Cretan immigrants, and his father is a Kurdized Turkmen tribe who immigrated from Kayseri-Pınarbaşı to Kars-Ardahan.

He is a staunch Beşiktaş fan. After her divorce from Kaya Çilingiroğlu, she has been with businessman Sadettin Saran for a while. His mother, Emral Avşar, died of cancer on February 6, 2009. An investigation was launched against him by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on the grounds that he "incited the public to hatred, hatred and enmity", after he expressed his views on the Kurdish initiative in an interview published in Milliyet on 24-25 August 2009.
