Izmir Metropolitan Municipality teams rescued 126 dogs, 101 cats, 8 parrots, 6 budgies, 3 canaries and many poultry in the earthquake area from the debris. 3 tons of food was distributed to stray animals.

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality continues its support to earthquake zones after the earthquake in Kahramanmaraş that affected 10 provinces. Teams from Izmir treat, care and feed the animals that can be reached within the scope of search and rescue efforts.

Teams set out right after the earthquake

The mobile health vehicle, which is affiliated to the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Environmental Protection and Control Department, Veterinary Affairs Branch Directorate, set out for the region on February 6 with a total of 2 personnel, including 2 veterinarians, 2 veterinary technicians, 2 animal sitters and 8 team drivers. He rescued and treated 126 dogs, 101 cats, 8 parrots, 6 parakeets, 3 canaries and countless poultry. The teams distributed 3 tons of food in this process.

The ladder vehicles of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department were also used to rescue the animals trapped in the damaged buildings in the region.
