The European Indoor Athletics Championships, which will be hosted by Turkey for the first time, will be held with the support of IMM. IMM will work in many areas, from transportation to promotion, from landscaping to waste management, in order for Istanbul to host the championship in the best way possible between 2nd and 5th of March. A portion of the revenue from the organization's ticket sales will be donated to earthquake victims.

The European Indoor Athletics Championships, which is among the oldest indoor athletics championships in the world, is coming to Turkey for the first time in its history. The championship, in which more than 50 athletes from 600 countries will participate, will be held in Istanbul between 2 and 5 March. For the tournament to be held at the Athletics Hall of the Turkish Athletics Federation in Ataköy, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) will provide support in many areas such as transportation, promotion, landscaping and waste management.

Full support from IMM

IMM started the field work on the protocol signed with all parties that carried out the organization and approved by the IMM Assembly on October 11, 2022. He made plans to ensure that athletes and spectators can reach the halls. In this context, IMM will provide free public transportation services for accredited athletes, officials and volunteers. The airport will allocate 20 buses for transfers between hotels and Ataköy Athletics Hall. In addition, sufficient number of IMM personnel will be assigned to ensure the necessary coordination on transportation.

Formal dinner at social facilities

Within the scope of the support provided by IMM, Florya Social Facility will be allocated for the official dinner of the organization during the event period. IMM, which contributes to the promotion of the organization in digital advertising channels, will provide "waste management" support in order to recycle the wastes that will occur in the areas to be used during the championship period.

Among the other supports given by IMM are the supply of 120 to 140 water supplies to be distributed throughout the event, landscaping works in the outer area of ​​the hall where the competitions will be held, control and repair of external lighting, and renovation of the hall's floor.

Call for solidarity from EA president and athletes

European Athletics Association (EA) President Dobromir Karamarinov announced in a written message published on the championship's website, istanbul2023.org, that 7 Euro from each ticket sold as of February 1 will be donated to earthquake victims.
