Üsküdar University NPİSTANBUL Hospital Psychiatry Specialist Assoc. Dr. Onur Noyan shared information and important advice about the emotional state of alcohol or substance addicted individuals during the period when the effects of the earthquake continued.

Noting that many different emotions were experienced during the earthquake, Assoc. Dr. Onur Noyan said, “Some of them have very bad feelings, some of them continue their lives with different emotions or neutral emotions by giving themselves completely to the news about the earthquake as if nothing has happened. The situation of addicted individuals in this process is very important.”

Assoc. Dr. Onur Noyan said, “It is predicted that individuals who suppress their negative emotions during the earthquake will increase their desire to use drugs or alcohol, especially one month after the earthquake. Individuals who use alcohol or drugs during these periods should definitely continue to talk to their physicians, even if they feel good and do not use drugs or alcohol. Learning new methods to deal with negative emotions and implementing them during this meeting will reduce the likelihood of individuals' negative behaviors.
