Students will travel an average of 1,9 kilometers from home to school

Launched free of charge in Turkey after the earthquake disaster, Find My Kids examined how far children have traveled to reach school from their homes, just a short while before the opening of schools.

While Turkey is trying to heal the wounds of the earthquake disaster, the second education period is about to start in schools. Millions of students will return to their schools and classrooms in cities outside the earthquake zone on Monday. According to the research conducted by Find My Kids by examining user data in city centers, the schools that children attend are on average 1,9 kilometers from their homes. 10 percent of students follow more than 5 kilometers to school every morning.

Find My Kids has started to offer its mobile application with many features free of charge to all users in Turkey, in order to help parents who are even more worried due to the earthquake.

With the students returning to school, parents involuntarily ask, “Has my child arrived at school?”, “He is out of school, but where and when will he be home right now?” They began to ask such questions almost every day. The fastest answer to such questions can be obtained with location tracking applications that show the location of the children instantly.

The mobile application Find My Kids, which enables parents to track the location of their children in real time, conducted an interesting research in which it processes user data with permission and anonymously. Find My Kids, which has 3 million active users around the world and more than 100 thousand active users in Turkey, calculated the average number of trips children in our country make between their homes and schools.

The analysis carried out by Find My Kids, taking into account the use in the city centers of cities with high populations such as Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir and Bursa in last January, reveals quite remarkable results. Accordingly, the schools that children attend are on average 1,9 kilometers from their homes. On the other hand, 10 percent of children follow more than 5 kilometers to school every morning.

After the earthquakes, Find My Kids can be used free of charge all over Turkey.

Find My Kids Country Manager Neşen Yücel said, “We are deeply saddened by the losses suffered during the earthquakes. We share the pain of everyone in the region and their loved ones. We wish mercy to those who lost their lives, condolences to their relatives and a speedy recovery to the injured. We are living in a very difficult situation as a country. However, our students also need to return to their schools. Of course, this is not an easy situation for parents. Because there is both the anxiety caused by the earthquake in the hearts and the rush to seek a solution to this anxiety in the minds. Moreover, we have many students coming to other cities from the earthquake zone. At this point, we have started to offer our application free of charge all over Turkey after the earthquakes in order to help produce a solution to the concerns of parents. We will continue to offer free usage during the aid campaign until the situation in our country is somewhat normalized. For now, anyone who downloads and installs Find My Kids on their phone can enjoy all the features of the application without any restrictions.

Find My Kids has kidSAFE certification documenting user safety

Thanks to Find My Kids, which can be used in Turkish, parents can see their children's location step-by-step on the map in real time. With this feature that maximizes parental control possibilities, they are instantly notified when the child reaches a predetermined location such as school or home. In addition to the GPS tracking features, even when the child does not answer the phone or mutes it, they can ring the bell loudly, monitor the charge level, and see which application and how much they use on their phone. In addition to all mobile phones, Find My Kids can be used with the special Apple Watch application that it launched in the past weeks.

Find My Kids, which has users in 170 countries, prioritizes the personal privacy and safety of children and families. The application proves that it prioritizes user safety with the kidSafe certificate, which it has been entitled to receive every year without interruption since 2020.
