Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay stated that the infrastructure of the first phase of the container city that they will establish together with the chambers and district municipalities in Konya in Hatay, which was hit by the earthquake, has been completed and the first containers have begun to be placed. Mayor Altay said, “Infrastructure works of our second stage container city are continuing at full speed. We will contribute to the sheltering problem of our earthquake survivors with our container cities with a total of 1.000 containers, which we will complete as soon as possible and establish in two different regions.”
Containers have started to be placed in the first phase of the container cities that Konya Metropolitan Municipality will establish in two different regions in Hatay with the chambers and district municipalities in Konya.
Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay said that from the first day of the devastating earthquakes that swept the whole country on February 6, as Konya, they have mobilized all means in Hatay to heal the wounds of the earthquake victims.
Noting that as Konya Metropolitan Municipality, an important stage has been reached in the works carried out in order to meet all kinds of human needs such as infrastructure, logistics, water works, mobile kitchens, communication and energy provision in the earthquake region, Mayor Altay said, “Our Konya Chamber of Commerce, our Chamber of Industry, our Commodity Exchange and Karatay, We have started to place the first containers by completing the infrastructure works in the first phase of the container cities, which we will build together with the Meram and Selçuklu Municipalities, consisting of 487 containers.”

Stating that as Konya, the works for the second stage container city in Hatay, the sister city, are continuing intensively, Mayor Altay said, “Here, too, our KOSKİ teams have covered a significant distance in infrastructure and sewerage works. By completing the second phase as soon as possible, we will contribute to the sheltering problem of our earthquake victims with our container cities of 1.000 containers, which we will establish in two different regions. As Konya, with our municipalities, chambers, non-governmental organizations and philanthropists, we continue to do our part to heal the wounds since the first day of the disaster.
