Who is Vural Savas?

Vural Savaş (born August 21, 1938, Antalya – died February 15, 2023, Ankara), Turkish lawyer and writer. He served as the Chief Public Prosecutor of the Supreme Court between 1997-2001.

He graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Law. He started his career as a candidate for Ankara judge in 1972. He served as the Judge of December and Gülnar, respectively, and as the Judge of the Criminal General Assembly of the Supreme Court of Appeals. He was elected as a member of the Supreme Court on November 7, 1987. He was elected as an alternate member of the Council of Judges and Prosecutors in 1990 and as a full member of the High Council of Judges and Prosecutors in 1993; He resigned from this post in March 1994, as he could not digest some of the appointments and elections made during Mehmet Seyfi Oktay's time as the Minister of Justice. He was elected as the Chief Public Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Appeals by Süleyman Demirel on January 17, 1997, among the candidates nominated by the Grand General Assembly of the Supreme Court of Appeals. During the February 28 Process, the Welfare Party then filed the lawsuits for the Virtue Party to be closed. He retired voluntarily on January 19, 2001. He joined the Democratic Left Party on September 7, 2002. He became a parliamentary candidate in the general elections of November 3, 2002, but was not elected.
