Chinese President Xi Jinping responded to the letter of Greek experts and congratulated the establishment of the Sino-Greek Civilizations Research Center.
Expressing that the Chinese civilization has a long history and the ancient Greek civilization has profound effects, Xi pointed out that the establishment of the said research center, which aims to accelerate the communication and mutual learning between the two civilizations and to advance the development of the civilizations of all countries, is of great importance.
Xi said that he believes the Sino-Greek Civilizations Research Center can play an important role in the field of inter-civilization sharing.
During his official visit to Greece in 2019, Xi Jinping demonstrated the mutual learning initiative between civilizations with the Greek leader. After the visit, the two sides started preparatory work to establish the Sino-Greek Civilizations Research Center.
Recently, five Greek academics from the University of Athens sent a letter to Xi Jinping, briefing him on the center's preparations and development plan.
The Sino-Greek Civilizations Mutual Learning Research Center was established yesterday at the University of Athens.
