Bogie Production Officially Starts at New Alstom Plant in Poland

Alstom in Poland has officially started the production of bogies for regional trains, subways and trams at a new facility in Nadarzyn near Warsaw. Two hundred people will be employed in the new facility and the investment cost will exceed 10 million Euros. The first bogies have already rolled off the production line. In the near future, the facility will also maintain the high-speed train bogies (up to 250 km/h). It will be the first high-speed train bogies service center in Poland.

The new plant will take over the production of bogies from the existing Alstom plants in Piaseczno and Wrocław. A production hall with four cranes and office spaces have been built on an area of over one hectare. The plant in Nadarzyn will employ plumbers, mechanics, electricians, turners, painters, quality control specialists and administrative staff.

“Our new Nadarzyn site is an example of Alstom's other investments in Poland. Ultimately we will hire 200 people in Nadarzyn and aim to produce 1800 train bogies per year, three times more than in Piaseczno today. Technically, we will be able to produce up to 3000 bogies per year,” explains Sławomir Cyza, Alstom CEO and Managing Director for Poland, Ukraine and the Baltic States.

Alstom has been gaining expertise in bogie construction in Poland for many years. In Piaseczno, Pendolino overhauls wagons and manufactures wagons for regional trains. The bogies manufactured in Poland are parts of the Coradia Stream electric multiple units assembled in Chorzów, among others; most of them are exported.
