Clear MAN language: The modern “Smart Edge” sets the design atmosphere
MAN launched the Lion's Intercity LE last fall. At the beginning of 2022, two versions for intercity use, Lion's Intercity LE 12 and Lion's Intercity LE 13, entered mass production. “With the new Lion's Intercity LE, our aim was to offer a bus model with maximum flexibility at an affordable price, and most of all, inspiring with its design, and it is clear that we have succeeded,” said Stephan Schönherr, Head of Design and HMI (Human-Machine Interface) Unit at MAN Truck & Bus. Schönherr continued: “The steady further development of our successful MAN 'Smart Edge' design has given the price-sensitive LE segment a completely new look. It allowed even city buses to have high quality and attractive design. The new MAN Lion's Intercity LE beautifully combines the best of two worlds: high quality and attractive design.”
Thanks to the modern “Smart Edge” design, you can clearly understand that the Lion's Intercity LE is a vehicle belonging to today's MAN family. Consistent execution of clear, dynamic lines, curves and edges leading to a harmonious holistic design concept throughout the entire vehicle; makes the vehicle eye-catching in urban and intercity traffic. The front and rear of the vehicle give the large bus mass a stylish, dynamic expressiveness and a warm, friendly look. The front mask of the vehicle is sporty, thin and horizontal, giving the bus a particularly powerful look, but the vehicle looks impressive not only from the front but also from the side. This effect is highlighted by the dynamic flow of the black nose and the powerful-looking wheel arches, among other features. In addition, the wide, solid rear pillars and the typical rear roof spoiler provide a sense of safety and efficiency.
Redesigned vehicle consistently and always with maximum customer benefit; It offers an unobstructed and inviting interior that can be easily used by the disabled. There are also two ergonomic, functional, intuitive and aesthetically pleasing driver's cabins for the driver.
“Every visible component has been carefully designed by us,” says Stephan Schönherr. The harmonious color and trim concept, together with the 'Smart Edge' design in the interior, not only provides a visual layout for the passenger, but also gives the vehicle a pleasant, friendly clarity effect.” All surfaces, prepared with great care, have a high-quality design. In addition, the interior looks particularly spacious and bright, thanks to the new and modern lighting concept with direct and continuous lighting.
The driver's cab of the new MAN Lion's Intercity LE is also in full compliance with the design concept. There are usually two driver's cabins for the vehicle; Classic version from Lion's Intercity and MAN's own fully 'VDV' German Transport Association compliant driver's cab from the new Lion's City generation. Here, the focus was specifically on ergonomics, comfort and safety. That's why ease of use has also been optimized by the arrangement of buttons and devices.
