Participating in the opening of the 6th Heritage Istanbul, a conservation, restoration, archeology, museum and technology fair, Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy broke the record of 3 years by the Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Department, which brought 480 artifacts from abroad to Turkey last year. stated that it has signed works that will set an example for the whole world.

Speaking at the opening at the Lütfi Kırdar International Congress and Exhibition Center, Minister Ersoy stated that Turkey, which has hosted many civilizations and cultures throughout the ages, has a vast knowledge and said, “However, having this knowledge is a duty for us to preserve it and pass it on to future generations. also bears the responsibility. Minister Ersoy stated that the Ministry handled the restorations of cultural heritage specimens in the light of universal conservation principles and revived them to the extent possible, and said:

“We are meticulously continuing our work in all four corners of our country, from the Church of St. Nicholas in Demre, Antalya, to the walls of Diyarbakır, from our unique cultural assets in Istanbul to the Sumela Monastery of Trabzon. In addition to these, we carry out the maintenance and restoration of the tombs in Istanbul with the motto of 'Fidelity in the ancestors, reviving the art'. Within the scope of the project, we will restore 124 tombs. The restoration process carried out with the opening of Hagia Sophia-i Kebir Mosque-i Şerifi for worship in July 2020 was also followed by our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. In order to commemorate Genoese Square, the first square of Istanbul, with both art and culture, we carried out restoration, exhibition and arrangement works in the Galata Tower. We are transforming the Rami Barracks, which has an indoor area of ​​approximately 36 thousand square meters, into a library after extensive restoration works. As a result of these efforts, we will be presenting one of the world's leading library complexes, which will appeal to all age groups, with the largest landscape area in the country, to the use of our people. We started the restoration of 10 buildings in İzmir Tekel Buildings. By the end of the year, we will open a very comprehensive museum and cultural complex, including a painting and sculpture museum, an archeology and ethnography museum, a Turkish world music library, a digital library, art workshops, and indoor and outdoor activity areas.”

“6. Heritage Istanbul will bring together experts in their fields with cultural heritage enthusiasts through events such as conferences, talks and workshops until 13 May.

The fair, supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums, General Directorate of Foundations, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Union of Marmara Municipalities, will host more than 32 participants, 120 of which are from abroad.

Participants from Belgium, Sweden, Nigeria, the Netherlands, Germany and Spain will take part in the fair, where Italy will participate with its country pavilion.
