China National Botanical Park opened to the public today in Beijing. The National Botanical Park, with an area of 600 hectares, was established by combining the Botanical Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Beijing Botanical Park.

At the 12th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP2021), held on October 15, 15, it was announced that the construction of national botanical parks would begin in Beijing and Guangzhou.

Established in this context, the China National Botanical Park is seen as the core part of the national botanical park system.

The park aims to be a China-exclusive, world-leading and cohesive state-level botanical park.

In addition, the Park will play a major role in issues such as relocating and protecting plants to another region and conducting scientific research, and will provide significant support to China's biodiversity conservation strategy.

There are 30 species of plants, including plants under threat of extinction, and 5 million plant specimens representing five continents.
