Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality has started to establish libraries at new generation smart bus stops in order to increase the habit of reading books in the city. The first step was taken to make the stops as well as the libraries pet friendly stops.

Libraries were created by the Metropolitan Municipality Department of Transportation Planning and Rail Systems in order to encourage the people of Balıkesir to read books at the new generation smart stops. In addition to inculcating the habit of reading books, the project, which aims to enable citizens to make the best use of their time while waiting for the bus, is aimed to be disseminated in case of interest. In addition, in order for the project to be sustainable and reach more people, citizens will be able to donate books to the libraries at the stops.
ANIMAL FRIENDLY BUS STOPS
In addition, the first step was taken to turn the new generation stops in Balıkesir into animal-friendly bus stops, and a home and food focus for street animals was established at a stop in the city center. The Metropolitan Municipality, which routinely performs the controls related to the stops, will soon implement similar studies at the new generation stops in the districts.
