Calm Neighborhood Program of Cittaslow Metropolis Izmir Has Started

Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyer, started the “Calm Neighborhood” program of İzmir, which was entitled to become the world's first Cittaslow Metropolis, in Pazaryeri Neighborhood in the Agora Ruins Area. Minister Tunç Soyerexamined the projects determined in line with the demands of the residents on site.

Cittaslow Metropol started with the “Calm Neighborhood” project. Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyer, visited Pazaryeri Neighborhood in Agora Ruins as part of the project. Konak Mayor Abdul Batur and Izmir Metropolitan Municipality bureaucrats attended the visit. During the field trip, Agora Park, Namazgah Turkish Bath, Open Air Cinema, Pazaryeri Square Arrangement, Altınordu Building, Historical Carfi Mansion and Calm Place were examined.

What is Cittaslow Metropolis?

İzmir was declared the world's first Cittaslow Metropol pilot city at the Cittaslow 2021 General Assembly. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality is working on the Cittaslow Metropol project with civil society representatives, academics, experts and opinion leaders to create a metropolitan management model that will start in Izmir and can be applied all over the world. Within the scope of the project, urban and good life perspectives in the world were analyzed and brought together with the philosophy of "slow life". The Cittaslow Metropol city model aims at people-oriented, sustainable, high quality of life that protects the values ​​of the city. The Cittaslow Metropolis model has 6 main themes: “Society”, “Urban resilience”, “Food for All”, “Good Governance”, “Mobility” and “Cittaslow Neighborhoods”. Various criteria were determined under these themes. Within the scope of these criteria, projects will be developed and implemented for one year in İzmir.
