Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy said that a world where children are safe would be more livable for everyone.

Minister Ersoy inaugurated the 200-year-old Bigali Castle, whose restoration work has been completed.

Representatives of foreign countries who came to the city for the 3th anniversary of the Çanakkale Land Wars also attended the ceremony held for the opening of the castle, which was also used as the "weapon repair shop" of the 107rd Army Corps during the Çanakkale Wars.

After the opening, iftar program was held in the same area.

Ersoy, in his speech here, thanked those who attended the iftar and congratulated the Christians on Easter.

Stating that people experience tragedies due to wars, epidemics, climate change, famine and natural disasters, Ersoy stated that they never have the luxury of despair.

Noting that they have to work with all their strength to survive, no matter how great the pains are, to mobilize all the means to relieve those pains as soon as possible and not to repeat them again, Ersoy said, "But most importantly, if we want to succeed, it should be us, not me." said.

“This beautiful table is a piece of heartfelt heart”

Expressing that they should focus on people, not nations, beliefs and cultures, Ersoy said:

“This beautiful table that brings us together today is a part of the heart of the great kitchen we call Turkey. Thanks to the values on which our civilization has risen, these lands, where people from every nation, religion, color and culture have turned their direction without fear, hope and confidence for centuries, still embrace millions of people who had to leave their home and country. It is our privilege and happiness to be the common point of so many different people from the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Europe.”

Expressing that no one will leave their home and loved ones behind unless they have to, and that they would not want to experience a new life in foreign lands, Ersoy continued as follows:

“Everyone wants to live, they want their loved ones and children to live. Everyone has the right to live and we cannot blame anyone for holding on to this right. We cannot take away his right, we cannot value his life according to his language, religion and nation. Every life is equally precious and important. Please let's embrace this clear truth and have the compassion and courage to hold the hand of those who are trying to hold on to life.”

“The solution is to eliminate injustice”

Ersoy said that there are great injustices and imbalances between countries on many topics from economy to social opportunities.

Stating that the gaps between existence and non-existence from one end of the world to the other are great, Ersoy said:

“All we can do yesterday and today is to try to manage the problems and processes caused by this abyss. But this is nothing more than a workaround. Eventually, the answers will run out, the roads will be blocked. The absolute solution is to eliminate injustice, to strive shoulder to shoulder and sincerely for a world where everyone lives in prosperity and sustainable global development is established. Remember, in a world where there are no children dying of hunger and crying from fear and despair, every bite we eat will be more delicious, every laugh we will have more sincere, and our happiness will be more real. Know that we will have realized our most valuable scientific discovery when we find a system where all children can receive the same quality education and access information. We will be safe from epidemics when we start developing treatments and medicines to make them available to those who are sick, not those who have money. If we can overcome the limits of our prejudices, not the space, we will open new horizons for humanity.”

AK Party Çanakkale Deputy Jülide İskenderoğlu thanked those who contributed to the restoration and said, “These lands are entrusted to us by our ancestors. We are happy to be in Çanakkale with our guests in unity on this blessed Ramadan evening.” said.

Çanakkale Wars and Gallipoli Historical Site Director İsmail Kaşdemir said that they are happy to open Bigalı Castle, an heirloom of his ancestors, after a long restoration process.

Minister Ersoy and the accompanying delegation also visited the castle in the museum concept and made investigations.

Bigali Castle

The 3-year-old Bigali Castle, which was used as the "weapon repair shop" of the 200rd Army Corps during the Dardanelles Wars, has been restored by the Dardanelles Wars and Gallipoli Historical Site Presidency.

Bigali Castle, which was started to be built in 1807 during the reign of Sultan Selim III and completed in 1822 during the reign of Mahmud II, served a strategic function during the Dardanelles Wars, which went down in world war history.

As part of the restoration works, the damaged walls were renewed and the floor was cleaned. The destroyed or damaged parts of the castle, which were renovated in accordance with the original, will welcome its visitors with the concept of a museum in the future.
