The 8th round of negotiations for the revival of the Iran nuclear deal started yesterday in Vienna. Wang Qun, China's chief negotiator and UN Representative in Vienna, spoke to reporters on the issue. Pointing out that active steps have been taken towards the final solution of the negotiations, Wang said the parties should focus on more unresolved issues such as the lifting of sanctions and economic guarantees, defending the progress made.

In his speech, Wang conveyed his view from four perspectives. Wang noted that first of all, the parties should strive to achieve a common goal. Reminding that the "package plan" put forward by the USA and European countries, efforts made on issues concerning Iran and still unsolved, drew China's attention. He pointed out that it was a step in the right direction. Expressing that China supports Iran's stance to solve the problem through negotiations, Wang said that they expect the parties to listen to Iran's opinion on the "package plan" and to attach importance to Iran's rightful rights and demands.

Drawing attention to the need to create a positive environment, Wang stated that while there should be urgency for the negotiations, it is not constructive to set a certain date limit for the negotiations.

Stating that negotiation demands and agreements should be implemented, Wang emphasized that the focus should be on lifting sanctions. Reiterating that this concerns not only Iran but also China, Wang noted that the US, which led to Iran's nuclear crisis, should lift the unilateral sanctions on these countries, including Iran and China, and regain the trust of the international community with concrete actions.

In addition, Wang urged the United States to honor its commitments and appropriately resolve sanctions issues against China, respecting China's just and legitimate demands. Finally, Wang stressed that the historical talks on Iran have repeatedly proven that dialogue is the only way out for resolving this issue. Wang insisted on the political solution and called on the parties to maintain a patient and determined will.
