China ranks first in the world of electric railway lines

China has become the country with the longest electric railway line in the world with 48 thousand kilometers. China, which built the first electric railroad in 1958, became the world champion by leaving Russia behind in the length of the electric rail with the official opening of the Harbin-Dalian high-speed train on December 1, 2012.
According to the news in the Chinese media, it was reported that the length of the electric railway line in the country managed to exceed 54 thousand kilometers in a period of 48 years. It was noted that only 68 countries in the world have electrified railways, followed by countries such as Germany, India, Japan and France, after Russia, with 43 thousand 300 kilometers.
In China, covering the years 2011-2015, “12. By the end of the Five-Year Development Plan, the length of the railway is expected to reach 120 thousand kilometers, and the length of the electrified railway will exceed 60 percent.
