Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu stated that motorcycle drivers love the Eurasia Tunnel, which reduces the journey time between two continents in Istanbul to 5 minutes, and announced that approximately 103 thousand motorcycle drivers used the Eurasia Tunnel during the May-August period.
Transport and Infrastructure Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu stated in his written statement that the Eurasia Tunnel, which gives Istanbul traffic a breath of fresh air, reduced the journey time between the Asian and European continents to 5 minutes. Reminding that the mega project Eurasia Tunnel was put into service on December 22, 2016, Karaismailoğlu said, “Due to the high demand, we opened the Eurasia Tunnel to the use of motorcycle drivers as of May 1. Motorcycle riders also liked to cross the Eurasia Tunnel quickly, comfortably and safely. During the May-August period, approximately 103 thousand motorcycle crossings took place. The Eurasia Tunnel, which we aim to be an intercontinental transit alternative especially for motorcycle users who are adversely affected by bad weather conditions in the winter period, is charged 05.00 TL for motorcycles in the daytime tariff between 23.59 - 20,70 and 00.00 TL for the night tariff between 04.59 - 10,35.
THE NUMBER OF VEHICLES USING THE EURASIA TUNNEL UP TO 90 MILLION
Noting that the number of vehicles using the Eurasia Tunnel since the opening has exceeded 89 million 858 thousand, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu noted that the daily average of vehicles in August is 56 thousand. Noting that the Eurasia Tunnel saves time, fuel and carbon emissions, Karaismailoğlu continued his statement as follows:
“We make life easier for our citizens with the investments we make. We support both production and export. Despite the criticisms of some circles, we have not stopped serving our citizens. We have fit the investments that will be made in 100 years into 20 years. We prepared the 2053 Transportation Vision. We will invest $2053 billion by 198. We will contribute 1 trillion dollars to national income and 2 trillion dollars to production. We are preparing the infrastructure of transportation for the future. We set all our plans and goals. We have worked tirelessly, with the strength we derive from our nation, and we will continue to do so. We have no time for daily vicious circles and polemics. Our time, our energy, our mind and our thoughts are only with our nation. It is in the planning and construction of the services we will offer him.”
