Noting that smart urbanism practices set an example for both Turkey and the world, Mayor Altay said, “While using technology in our city; We developed our strategies accordingly by focusing on humans, nature and all living creatures in nature. Especially our citizens and elderly people who are disadvantaged; Our priority has been to benefit from all services in the best and easiest way. Thinking not only about today but also about tomorrow; We have created action plans that will meet the needs of our city for many years. Thank God, with the work we have implemented and planned in the long term in this regard; We have achieved significant success in becoming a smart, innovative, pioneering and sustainable city. Of course, we do not see all these achievements as sufficient for our city and we are working harder. "We will continue to work non-stop until we make Konya the technology base of our country in the Turkey Century," he said.
In his speech, Mayor Altay stated that the Metropolitan Municipality has so far; 360 Konya, Smart Stop Screens, Smart Junctions, Smart Tourism Guide Application, Smart Public Transportation System, Bicycle Tram, Smart Bicycle System, E-Neighborhood, Barrier-Free Konya Mobile Application, Young Culture Card, E-PATİ Volunteer Animal Friends Project Application, Weather Quality Monitoring System, City Information System, KOİM Coordination Information Center, Konya Open Data Portal, Konya Mobile Application, Konyakart, Geographic Information Systems, Metaverse Meeting Application, Central Traffic Operating System, Free Wi-Fi Service, Field Tracking Platform and Konya Zero Waste He reminded that they have implemented Smart City studies such as Information System.
“KONYA SMART CITY STRATEGY AND ROADMAP” CONSISTS OF 142 ACTION PLANS
Describing Konya's 2030 vision on Smart City, Mayor Altay continued as follows: “As a result of our comprehensive evaluations and stakeholder collaborations on Smart City Applications; To date, we have presented nearly 200 vision projects to Konya. We determined our Konya Smart City Stakeholder Map under nearly 20 headings by determining the areas in which all our stakeholders, with whom we will carry out our Smart City studies, will be involved in the studies. As a result of the work we carried out in 11 stages for approximately 1 year; We have revealed our Smart City Vision, our 4 strategic goals and 23 strategic goals related to these goals. Covering the period between 2023-2030; We have created our "Konya Smart City Strategy and Road Map", which includes a total of 17 actions: 23 in the field of Environment, 15 in Transportation, 20 in Informatics, 22 in Governance, 142 in Livability and many other areas. With these projects; We will strengthen the technological infrastructure of our city, advance living standards, popularize the Smart City culture, and ensure that it is sustainable by constantly improving our capacity in this field. Thus, to the generations after us; "We will leave a legacy of a much more beautiful and stronger Konya that has proven itself in every field."
“WE WILL BUILD 2030 SMART CITY KONYA WITH OUR KONYA SMART CITY STRATEGY AND ROAD MAP”
2030 Konya Smart City vision; Emphasizing that they collectively determined Konya as "Human and environment-oriented, drawing its strength from local and universal values, benefiting from smart technologies, innovative, pioneering, sustainable and climate-friendly Konya", Mayor Altay said, "An advisory board consisting of faculty members from various universities took part in all of our studies. In line with the guidance of this advisory board, the working team consisting of experts and engineers from ASELSAN and Konya Metropolitan Municipality carried out all processes. By demonstrating a local, national and multi-disciplinary approach in the Konya Smart City Strategy and Road Map studies, we have contributed to the creation of trained human resources in this field. With our Konya Smart City Strategy and Road Map, we will hopefully put our 2030 projects into service by 142 and build the "2030 Smart City Konya". The projects in question are; "It includes artificial intelligence, blockchain, metaverse, web3, data analytics, image processing and other new technologies and techniques," he said.

“Smart City Data Inventory Platform”, “Environmental Tracking System”, “Konya Salary Platform”, “Autonomous Public Transportation”, “Smart City Tracking Platform”, “Konya Digital Twin”, “Konya Cyber Security Center”, “Konya Service Platform” , “Urban UAV Fleet”, “Road Defects Detection System”, “Water Safety Management System”, “Smart Greenhouse”, “Smart Farm New Generation Livestock”, “Smart Fields”, “Smart Destination Konya”, “University Student Portal” , “City Disabled Accessibility Map”, “To popularize Metaverse applications in our city as the first local government in Turkey to start working on Metaverse.”
“WE HAVE BEEN AT THE TOP OF SMART URBANIZATION FOR 4 YEARS”
Thanks to the work they have done so far; In the survey studies carried out by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change in which the Smart City maturity level of all cities is measured; Stating that they have been at the top for 4 years, Mayor Altay said, “We have achieved this success together so far. Hopefully, from now on, we will always keep Konya at the top in the field of Smart Urbanism. I would also like to mention another nice thing about this subject. In Seoul, South Korea; With a program organized by the World Smart Sustainable Cities Organization and Seoul Metropolitan Municipality; Awards are given to leading projects in the field of Smart Cities. Due to the Smart City applications we have introduced to our city, our 2030 road map and our efficient use of Smart City applications in Hatay; This year, this award was handed over to me on behalf of our Metropolitan Municipality. Receiving the Smart City Leadership Award, which has great prestige in the world, was a development that made us happy. Following the award in South Korea, Konya received an award from Spain recently. "Our Bicycle Tram received an award in the 'Mobility' category at the Smart City Expo World Congress, the world's largest and most effective technology event in the field of Smart Urbanism, held in Barcelona," he said.
“WE ARE CREATING KONYA LOCAL SMART CITY BOARD”
Noting that they aim to carry out future work in a much more coordinated manner so that these successes can continue in a more sustainable way, Mayor Altay said:
“To achieve this goal, I am sharing with you here for the first time our efforts to establish the Konya Local Smart City Board. Thanks to our Smart City Board, which will consist of our public institutions, universities, NGOs and private sector representatives in Konya; We will monitor the current situation and needs of our city within the scope of a specific strategy and ensure that the necessary initiatives are taken together with the relevant stakeholders to solve the needs. “I wholeheartedly believe that our Smart City Board will carry out very important work and make a great contribution to our Smart City vision.”
“OUR MAIN GOAL IS TO MAKE OUR KONYA A CITY THAT PRODUCES TECHNOLOGY”
Underlining that their main goal while carrying out these projects is to make Konya a city that produces technology, Mayor Altay said, “We wish to create an ecosystem in Konya and Turkey regarding the production of software and hardware. By developing the products that will emerge in this ecosystem in Konya; We aim to contribute economically to our country by marketing to the Turkish world through the Union of Turkish World Municipalities and to world cities through the World Union of Municipalities. Smart City technologies will become one of the most important sectors of our country from now on, just like the defense industry. As Konya, we hope to make a significant contribution to this sector and become a city that produces Smart City technologies. Hopefully, by working day and night in cooperation with our stakeholders, we will make Konya a brand in Smart City. "When we complete our work, Konya will be a role model city to the world in Smart Urbanism, as in municipality," he said.

ASELSAN Deputy General Manager Mehmet Çelik also said: “In order to achieve a goal, time, place and people are needed. When we came to our esteemed Metropolitan Mayor's intention to establish ASELSAN Konya regarding this place, he said, "Sir, the place is on us" and gave us the most valuable 1.7 million square meters of space without blinking an eye. He said, "As long as you bring it to Konya, it is in a very valuable place in Konya." He made great contributions to the establishment of ASELSAN Konya and the establishment of the Konya Industrial Zone.
