'Mobile Bathroom' Project for the Homeless in Istanbul

ISTANBUL (IGFA) – Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality continues its preventive health activities for homeless people staying on the streets.

IMM, which provides shelter, personal care, health, food and clothing support to homeless people every year during the winter months, will now also meet the personal care needs of homeless individuals in need of help with the "Istanbul Mobile Bathroom".

The project, which was first started to be worked on by the Istanbul Hospice Branch Directorate of the Department of Health under the name "Clean, Dress, Go", was later requested with the suggestion of Istanbulites within the scope of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Budget Istanbul program.

At this stage, the specially equipped bus allocated from IETT within the scope of the project was made ready for service. The bus, which will include psychologists and sociologists to serve homeless people, will provide shower, personal care and hairdresser opportunities to homeless people who do not have access to hygiene in the city. The bus that will operate within the scope of the project includes two toilets, two dressing rooms, two hairdressers, two showers, a kitchen, a rest area, a similar system in caravans and a system where shower and waste water can be transferred to the sewer, a ventilation and heating system, two There will be a social review room and a warehouse section.

The project, which was designed and implemented with the suggestions of Istanbulites within the scope of IMM Budget Istanbul, is planned to be started with a single bus as a pilot, and then the number will be increased with other specially designed vehicles. With the "Istanbul Mobile Bathroom Project", it is aimed to provide services to the homeless throughout the year in various squares of Istanbul, starting from April.
