İYİ Party Mardin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Candidate Süleyman Akar stated in his call that Mardin Metropolitan Municipality is governed by the trustee method, in fact, trustee is a form of management in which the will of the ballot box is ignored.
“We learned from social media on February 17, 2024, that the Mardin metropolitan municipality did not increase the urban minibus transportation prices for the increased fuel prices and costs for the urban minibus tradesmen, but covered them from the municipal budget. Urban minibus, that is, private Public Bus Cooperatives, stated that an amount of more than 20 million TL per month from the municipal budget was given to our minibus tradesmen, at the rate of 6 percent of the net monthly amount, that this practice was until the election, that there was uncertainty after the election, that is, the municipality's decision regarding any price increase. There is no raise decision and no protocol between them and the Cooperative. "It is understood that the decision to increase urban minibus prices after the election will be attributed to the newly elected mayor and the City Council."
Pointing out that Mardin Metropolitan Municipality Water Works Institution MARSU receives more water money than the municipalities in most of the Southeastern Anatolian provinces, Akar said that they want the Trustee administration to reduce the water bills as it applies to minibus drivers.
Akar said, “If the Metropolitan Municipality has enough money to pay these costs, then the municipality should reduce the high water bills in the same way.
