Onur Duruk Resigned from CHP

Onur Duruk, Konyaaltı's previous district chairman and Konyaaltı Mayor candidate, announced that he resigned from the Republican People's Party.

Onur Duruk used the following statements in his written statement:

“What are the three things you value most?” When they asked, my answer would always be Atatürk, CHP and Fenerbahçe.

As the son of a teacher father who graduated from the village institute; I was raised by being taught Cumhuriyet Newspaper since the 2nd grade. I have been in CHP for 30 years, I gave my childhood and youth. While I could not spare time for my family and children, I tried to fulfill all the responsibilities that this party placed on me.

I tried to live by thinking that we have a duty and a debt to the people who instilled in us this mentality that brought this country, the Republic, and the Turkish society to these days.

However, I would like to inform you that as of today, I am at a crossroads and on the verge of a very difficult decision. Because this party; Unfortunately, it is no longer the CHP that Atatürk entrusted to us!

The point that the party has brought today is "The Republic of Turkey cannot be a land of sheikhs, dervishes, disciples and lunatics." Contrary to Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRK, who said, he was turned into a side of the polarization and ethnic sectarianism created in Turkey.

Within the party, especially in the last 10 years, "The National Pact is a whole and can never be separated." A liquidation mechanism was created in which patriotic people who said so were marginalized, patriots were expelled from the party and forced to leave.

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk; He left Istanbul on his way to Samsun and saved Istanbul from Ankara. I am resigning from the Republican People's Party in order to save the occupied CHP, Atatürk's trust, and Konyaaltı, where I spent my childhood and youth, from the occupation.

The people of Konyaaltı, our youth, our women, my Atatürkist and Republic-loving fellow countrymen should not worry at all, we are starting everything over again. We will never expect different results by doing the same things anymore. This country is ours!

Together we will build an arrogant, pure, accountable, secular and democratic understanding. Just like 38-year-old Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRK...
