Huge Payment of 6 Billion TL to Beet Farmers

Stating that Konya Şeker broke a record with the purchase of 2023 million 2024 thousand 3 tons of beet in the 808-539 campaign period, PANKOBİRLİK Chairman and Konya Beet Growers Cooperative Chairman Ramazan Erkoyuncu stated that they support the farmers in every matter.

Konya Şeker will have paid a total of 2023 Billion 2024 Million 8 thousand TL to farmers with the end of the 190-223 campaign period. The total of in-kind and cash advances paid so far is 2 Billion 272 Million 642 thousand TL. The remaining 5 Billion 918 Million 581 thousand cash producer fees started to be deposited into the farmers' accounts today.

Mayor Erkoyucu stated that they paid a high price for C and D sugar and made the following statements. “As Konya Şeker, we paid a higher price for C and D sugar compared to Türk Şeker and other factories. While this figure was 1.050 lira in Turkish Şeker, we determined it as 1.500 lira. We protected the farmers in this regard. Since it is a farmers' organization, we did not do this as a populist policy. This was the farmer's right and we gave it to him. "We are trying to pay our farmers' advance payments, fertilizer, diesel support and beet costs on time." said.

On the other hand, President Erkoyuncu added that Turkish Sugar announced an unprecedented discount rate in history and said, “This year, Turkish Sugar determined the sugar price as 27 lira on a campaign basis. But the same Turkish Sugar applied a discount of 20 percent, which was unprecedented in history. Therefore, the wholesale price of sugar was announced as 21,5 lira. We also had to comply with this figure. We had to pay 6 billion in cash to the farmers. “We sold our candy for 21,5 TL.” he said.

President Erkoyuncu emphasized that the Seed and Plant Health Clinic opened within the University of Food and Agriculture should be used efficiently and said, “I hereby announce to our farmers. Negativities in products due to climatic conditions should be monitored meticulously. If you contact our Seed and Plant Health Clinic in case of any negativities, we can intervene very quickly. “Our farmers should follow the products exactly and be vigilant.” he said.
