Training for Farmers in Hatay

Hatay Metropolitan Municipality supports the Restorative Transformation Project in Agricultural Production initiated by Buğday Ecological Life Support Association for farmers in Hatay.

The project, which the Metropolitan Municipality supports in halls, farmer transportation, storage and logistics, is carried out by Buğday Ecological Life Support Association.

Within the framework of the project, marketing support will be provided to farmers producing in different districts of Hatay, as well as training and consultancy on sustainable agricultural methods.

AFTER THE EARTHQUAKE, THE CONTINUITY OF PRODUCTION IS AIMED

The Restorative Transformation Project in Agricultural Production in Hatay aims to protect the welfare, continuity of production and biodiversity of the regional farmers who are trying to rebuild their lives and production after the earthquake.

An information meeting was held at the HBB Campus EXPO Horticulture Area for farmers and cooperative representatives who will participate in the two-year "Restorative Transformation in Agricultural Production in Hatay" project.

Speaking at the meeting, Buğday Association Strategy Board Member Oya Ayman said, “The research we conducted in Hatay after the earthquakes revealed that for a restorative transformation, it is necessary to approach all links of the chain from production to consumption in an inclusive manner. For this purpose, on this path we set out with our supporters, we aim to strengthen the farmers in the region by introducing them to agroecological production and new marketing channels.” made his statements.

At the meeting, Hatay Metropolitan Municipality, Hatay Provincial Directorate of Agriculture, Türkiye İş Bankası, chambers of agriculture, cooperative representatives, as well as Buğday Association officials and experts; He answered the questions of farmers and cooperative representatives.

TRAININGS FOR FARMERS WILL START ON FEBRUARY 1, 2024

The project will focus on karakılçık wheat, pepper and tomato paste, pomegranate syrup, citrus fruits, medicinal and aromatic plants, which are prominent in Hatay's agricultural production and culinary culture. The training that experts will give to farmers who grow these products will begin as of February 1, 2024.

The trainings will be held in three regions: Samandağ, Antakya and Arsuz; It will cover soil restoration, water management, seed, disease and pest control and digital marketing.

In the second year of the project, sponsored by Türkiye İş Bankası for agricultural production and training activities, agroecological production will be expanded in the region thanks to the training and experience sharing to be given to new farmers.
