First Workshop in “Kalemkâr Schools” is in Bursa

The art of engraving, which has been an important element in the interior and exterior decorations of civil, religious, military and architectural buildings as a branch of Turkish arts for centuries, is being implemented by the Ministry of National Education General Directorate of Religious Education with the "Kalemkâr Schools" project.

The project, which was prepared to revive the hand-carved art, which is an ancient tradition and has examples in a wide area from big cities to villages, due to its rare use today, will ensure that the culture contained in the hand-carved art is transferred to future generations.

Within the scope of the project, it is planned to make the art in question visible in the school architecture with Turkish-Islamic motifs, and it is aimed to ensure the participation of students, teachers, and expert academicians and artisans in this process. In addition, the project aims to investigate what kind of contributions the process makes to the spiritual well-being of students in affective and cognitive aspects.

In this context, the first workshop of the "Kalemkâr Schools" project was held at Bursa Muradiye Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School Practice Hotel, which represents the central style of the Ottoman handcraft art.

In the workshop, where the issues related to the project were examined, the process of decorating a local area in the architecture of imam-hatip schools implementing the "Traditional and Contemporary Visual Arts" program with "Pencil Work Turkish Islamic Art" was organized. To this process; It was decided in what way students, teachers, academicians and artists who are experts in their fields would contribute.

In addition, in line with the objectives of the project, studies were also discussed to shoot a series of art programs in order to watch the reconnection of young generations with the art in question, extending from the past to the future, and thus contribute to the development of the project.
