Minister Uraloğlu: Important Progress Will Be Made on the Development Path in 2024

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu spoke at the 'Reconstruction of Ukraine Forum' held at the Hilton Maslak Hotel in Istanbul.

Minister Uraloğlu stated that explaining the magnitude and complacency of the wars is tried to be measured by the number of people who died in the wars and said, “We all know that every innocent person who dies and is killed is valuable. Therefore, I do not think these magnitudes can adequately describe the pain here,” he said.

Minister Uraloğlu stated that what happened between Russia and Ukraine and the ongoing genocide in Gaza and Palestine deeply saddened him and said: "The attitude we took both in terms of stopping the Ukrainian-Russian war and against our Palestinian brothers in Israel, Gaza and Palestine." Our President has made great efforts regarding the genocide and its prevention. "I hope that we will get results with this effort as soon as possible, and we will work together to prevent the killing of innocent people and stop the wars as soon as possible, and we will get results," he said.

Minister Uraloğlu pointed out the importance of Turkey's strategic location and said, “With our location being a four-hour flight away, we can reach sixty-seven countries in exactly four hours. We are talking about a gross national product of 40 trillion dollars and a trade volume of 8,5 trillion dollars. Therefore, we see that Turkey has such a strategic position.” he said. Uraloğlu underlined that Turkey is also in an important place in terms of shipping, transportation and trade corridors.

AN IMPORTANT STAGE WILL BE MADE IN THE DEVELOPMENT ROAD PROJECT IN 2024

Referring to the importance of the Development Road Project, Minister Uraloğlu said, "The most current issue lately is the transportation that returns to the Cape of Good Hope, especially after the problems in the Suez Canal... If we had implemented the Development Road that we think of today, a load from Beijing would only go to London. It could reach in 26 days. It can reach the Suez Canal in 35 days. But due to the difficulties experienced, it has mostly turned to the Cape of Good Hope, and this transportation and trade can take place in approximately 45 days.” he said.

Referring to the investments in the field of transportation and communication, Uraloğlu said, “As a country, we have invested 21 billion dollars in transportation and communication in the last 250 years. We have done most of it on highways so far. However, we planned to do the next part mostly on railways,” he said.

WE WILL OPEN FILYOS PORT FOR COMMERCIAL USE IN A FEW YEARS

Meanwhile, in the maritime sector, Minister Uraloğlu stated that the Filyos Port in the Black Sea has been completed and said, “For now, we are using it as the logistics port of the natural gas we found in the Black Sea. But hopefully, with a capacity of 25 million tons, we will open it for commercial use within the next few years. We plan to complete the Rize logistics center, which is also in the Eastern Black Sea coast on the Black Sea coast, next year. We work quickly from there. We are working on two new port projects in the Mediterranean and Eastern Mediterranean. These are truly two ports that will play an important role in international world trade. We are in the project phase there. When we look at communication, we combined 2 radio transmitters into a single antenna in Istanbul. And we reduced the electromagnetic waves here, which the European Union accepted, below the accepted level and reduced the current by 100 times. "At the same time, we have produced a very beautiful work," he said.

TÜRKSAT WILL BE LAUNCHED ON JUNE 6A

Emphasizing that Turkey also has a say in space, Minister Uraloğlu said, “You see our satellites in space. Hopefully, we will increase our power there by sending our own national and local satellite to America in 2024 and launching it into space in June. "I would really like to express that where Turkish engineering and Turkish contracting has come and what it can do is not only in Turkey but all over the world," he said.
