Yaşar Kemal Park was opened with a ceremony in Çiğli

Çiğli Municipality, which continues to bring living spaces to the city where citizens of all ages can socialize safely and with pleasure, recently opened the Yaşar Kemal Park in İzkent District, where it completed its renovation works. Çiğli Mayor Utku Gümrükçü, deputy mayors, council members, headmen, non-governmental organizations and many citizens attended the opening. After the opening, Mayor Gümrükçü met with the citizens who spent time in the tea garden and took notes on their demands and suggestions.

Stating that they brought another park to Çiğli where citizens of all ages can socialize, with its sports field, expanded cafeteria and producer women's market, Gümrükçü said, “The construction of the Egekent Region was completed in 1998, but in the following years, not many people touched it in terms of social, sports and cultural services. We are trying to make touches in this sense to Egekent, Çağdaş and İzkent Districts, which have a very large population. Finally, we renovated a facility equipped with a sports field, cafeteria and producer women's market and brought it to Izkent District. "As a name befitting this innovation, we named it after Yaşar Kemal, one of the master writers of our literature," he said.

“OUR SUPPORT TO SPORTS AND ATHLETES CONTINUES”

Providing information about the facility, Gümrükçü said, “Unfortunately, the sports fields in Çiğli were in the hands of private enterprises and we brought them back to our municipality one by one, provided that they belonged to Çiğli Belediyespor Club. We continued our work in this direction with Egekent Sports Club. We renewed the artificial turf and dressing rooms. We provide our neighborhood's teams to use these fields free of charge. We organized such a protocol with 15-16 amateur sports clubs so that the revenues obtained from these facilities are spent on the education of our young brothers. Currently, 500 of our young people are receiving training under the umbrella of Egekent Sports Club. "I hope that next year we will lay the foundation for our sports complex with Izmir Metropolitan Municipality in the area opposite the market place," he said.
