RANKS TRANSPORTATION PROJECTS
Mayor Zorluoğlu stated that he was happy to inaugurate the Sustainable Urban Transportation Plan, which they initiated in order to build a more sustainable and more livable Trabzon in the field of urban transportation, and said: "Children can play outside with bicycles and can easily move locally, with quality air, where people feel safe, rest and relax." We call livable cities cities that have green areas for refreshment, encourage an active lifestyle, have sufficient opportunities for sports and movement, and where disadvantaged people receive adequate support. We have been working with all our strength to make Trabzon more livable since 2019, when we took office. Among these works, solving the transportation problems of our city has always been a priority. We completed and implemented the Transportation Master Plan, which has been talked about in the city for many years but no steps have been taken, in 2022. "New urban roads, sidewalks and parking lots, minibus transformation, the creation of a well-functioning widespread public transportation system, our logistics plan, pedestrianized streets, the new bus terminal and the new transportation building that provides single-handed management of transportation are just some of our works," he said.

WE BRING A NEW PERSPECTIVE
Referring to the importance of the Sustainable Urban Transportation Plan, Mayor Zorluoğlu said: “The Sustainable Urban Transport Plan, which has been implemented in many cities in Europe since 2013, is a strategic level plan prepared to meet the mobility needs of people and commercial organizations in cities in order to improve the quality of life. What distinguishes this from other traditional transportation plans is that it focuses on people rather than transportation demand and prioritizes pedestrians rather than vehicles. We are now bringing a new perspective to urban transportation with the Sustainable Urban Transportation Plan that we started today. "I think it is vital for a very congested and old city like Trabzon to implement this new approach, which prioritizes walking, micro mobility and public transportation rather than private vehicles, which prioritizes pedestrians, not vehicles, by creating appropriate infrastructures."

THE FOCUS POINT OF OUR PROJECT IS CONSULTATION
“Today, we are starting the Sustainable Urban Transportation Plan, but in addition to this plan, the project also includes components such as the construction of new walking and cycling paths and intersection modernization. We are implementing our project, which has a budget of approximately 6 million euros, together with our Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, with European Union grant support. The focus of our project named SKUP Trabzon is consultation, participation and common sense. Active participation of every segment of the city living in the plan making process and ownership of the plan is a must for success. The sustainable and innovative solutions we will put forward in the field of urban transportation will make significant contributions not only to Trabzon but also to the general transportation sector of our country. With these feelings and thoughts, I would like to express my gratitude to our esteemed Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, who has always been with us from the beginning to the end of the process, and in his person, all officials of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the European Union Turkey delegation, Trabzon Transportation Inc. I would like to thank the General Directorate, our Transportation Department, Trabzon Governorship and our stakeholders, our police and gendarmerie organizations, all our stakeholders who contributed to the project, and my valuable colleagues. “I hope that SKUP Trabzon will be beneficial to our country and our city.”
