People's Alliance AK Party Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor candidate Murat Kurum stated that they will determine the next 100 years of Istanbul and talk about the big steps of 2034 and 2053, and announced their projects at the "Turkey Century Istanbul Vision Meeting."
In his speech, which he started by saying "Istanbul is for all of us" to Istanbul lovers and thanking everyone who supported us, Kurum underlined that they would talk about the solution, not the deadlock.
Murat Kurum said, “We will talk about selflessness, not about selflessness.” “We will talk about hope, not despair.” Today we will all say together, Now is the time for Istanbul. We will embark on a blessed path only for Istanbul, only for the future of Istanbul. We are all together today. We are together with our artists and athletes. We are together with our disabled brothers and young people. With everyone in this room today; We joined our hands for Istanbul, we came together with excitement and enthusiasm for the Turkish Century Istanbul Vision. Istanbul Vision; This is the stance that will end the bad progress of this neglected city. It is the vision that neglected neighborhoods and streets miss. Istanbul Vision is most of all the vision of the people. It is the vision of all Istanbulites from seven to seventy. “AK Party Municipality shone for the first time in Istanbul as a star 30 years ago,” said Murat Kurum, adding, “It was just like that star that shone in the sky when Fatih conquered Istanbul. This brilliant progress of Istanbul, which started in 1994, unfortunately entered an unfortunate interregnum in 2019. Istanbul with a part-time municipality approach; It has become a tangle of problems. There is currently a great chaos and confusion in Istanbul that tires the people of this city. And this chaos has completely surrounded this city today. But Istanbul is not helpless. Evaluating all the problems of our beautiful city from a holistic perspective; "We offer a brand new management approach that puts people at the center, to the service of you, Istanbulites," he said.
Underlining that they will make two more big moves that will ease Istanbul traffic, Kurum said that they will move Esenler and Harem bus terminals, which negatively affect Istanbul traffic.
"We will establish 6 new logistics centers on both sides," said Kurum, adding, "With these two projects, we will move approximately 1 million heavy vehicle traffic in the urban traffic to the outskirts of the city. "With a planned distribution model, we will reduce the travel time in urban transportation by 20 percent," he said.
“WE WILL ADD 3 NEW LINES TO SEA TRANSPORTATION”
Although very few cities in the world have a unique geography like Istanbul and a sea passing through the middle, Kurum claimed that the current administration has not taken steps to encourage and develop sea transportation and said, "We will work with very effective models on sea transportation. From Beylikdüzü to Avcılar, Bakırköy, Yenikapı, Eminönü, Kabataş, like Beşiktaş; We will establish mini piers on the Anatolian Side, which will be created in a similar manner on the Maltepe Coast. We will increase the service with fast and frequent flights, especially during morning and evening business hours. We will double the share of maritime transportation with these works. We will add 2 new lines to sea transportation. "We will strengthen alternative transportation opportunities to the highway with our İstinye-Yenikapı, Çubuklu-Yenikapı, Çengelköy-Yenikapı car ferry projects," he said.
“OUR 600 THOUSAND HOUSES NEED TO BE CONVERTED URGENTLY”
Emphasizing that they have been on the field for 15 days, Kurum said that the agenda of Istanbulites is earthquake and transformation.
“We tell you, our mothers, our children; "We promise an Istanbul for disasters," said Kurum, adding, "We currently have a total of 39 million homes and workplaces in 7,5 districts. Unfortunately, 1,5 million of these are at risk. Our 600 thousand residences need to be transformed urgently. Before the 2019 local elections; It was said, "We are declaring earthquake mobilization." It was said, "We will prepare Istanbul for an earthquake in 5 years." The target was set: "We will transform 20 thousand houses every year and 5 thousand houses in 100 years." It was promised that "we will quickly complete 15 thousand social housing units." In fact, this is what we describe as the lost 5 years; Not being able to deliver even 5 percent of what you promised. With the number of houses it produced, the metropolitan municipality could not reach half the success of even one of our district municipalities. Indeed, as they claim; "If they continue at this pace, they can complete the transformation in 100 years," he said.
“WE WILL MANAGE THE ENTIRE DISASTER PROCESS WITH ISTANBUL DIGITAL TWIN”
Noting that they will implement the central Disaster Risk Management System in Istanbul, the Authority emphasized that they will serve 2 million people in all the meeting areas we will organize all over Istanbul.
In children's Istanbul; Noting that they will provide nutritional support to our schools for our primary school children, the Institution noted that they will provide transportation to our primary school students completely free of charge and that the schools will be hygienic and safe. Stating that no student will long for mother, father or sibling, the Institution promised that students who go to their hometown will pay half of the bus ticket twice a year.
“HISTORY WILL BE RESWRITTEN IN ISTANBUL”
The institution stated that Istanbul will be our direction and our life, and that they will rewrite history in Istanbul on the evening of March 31. Stating that social media municipalism will end on the evening of March 31 and real municipalism will begin, Kurum said, “As of April 1, the winds of abundance, brotherhood and peace will blow in the skies of Istanbul. "By ending the Interregnum period in Istanbul, we will revive its rise and rise again," he said.
