Within the scope of the campaign to combat illegal construction started in 2019, 830 buildings have been demolished to date, while 5 buildings have been sealed. There are 972 files that need to be taken into the demolition program and demolished.

Bodrum Mayor Ahmet Aras, in his statement regarding the demolition process, underlined that as a municipality, the demolition of the buildings whose legal processes have been completed, continues with determination, “Our teams are working hard to detect illegal structures that will overshadow the beauty of our city. If there is no result from the determinations, minutes and warnings, we carry out the demolition process with our own teams. There is a legal process regarding the issue and as a municipality we have to comply with this process. When the property owners do not carry out the demolition after the process is completed, our teams get involved and we carry out the demolition ourselves. I would like to make a call to our citizens to carry a beautiful city to the future and to leave a Bodrum full of natural beauties for future generations. Let's stay away from illegal construction."
