While the Ministry of Family and Social Services establishes new service units for women in the earthquake area to rebuild their lives, get rid of the negative effects of the destruction, and strengthen them socially and economically, it also supports entrepreneur women.

The Ministry continues to work for earthquake survivors to quickly rebuild their lives, be rehabilitated and meet the needs of their families. In this context, with the support of women's cooperatives from all over our country, a total of 2 Workshops were opened in tent and container cities, 2 in Gaziantep, 1 in Kahramanmaraş, and 6 each in Adıyaman and Malatya.

It is planned to encourage women economically

Sewing machines, carpet and kilim looms were placed in the workshops to produce urgent needs such as sheets, pillowcases and T-shirts. Knitting, jewelry design, wood painting and marbling fields were created. Women who learn sewing and embroidery with master trainers in these workshops also support other earthquake victims by meeting their needs. Women who attend the trainings in the workshops both improve their skills and get rid of the negative effects of the earthquake. So far, approximately 2.500 earthquake survivors have participated in workshops and contributed to the benefit of other earthquake survivors.

Workshops and active women's cooperatives close to the provinces affected by the earthquake were matched by the Ministry. In this way, it is planned to increase production capacities and to encourage women economically in the medium and long term.

Cooperation to support women's cooperatives affected by the earthquake

On the other hand, all women's cooperatives in the earthquake area were contacted and their current situation after the earthquake was evaluated and their needs were determined. In this context, the sales of the products in the hands of women's cooperatives are ensured by coordination with the relevant units. In addition, the Ministry carries out studies to develop cooperation with the private sector and international organizations to support women's cooperatives in earthquake zones and negatively affected.

Baby Care Room for Earthquake Survived Mothers

The Ministry planned to create common areas where earthquake survivors can breastfeed their babies, change diapers, have basic supplies such as diapers and wet wipes, and protect the privacy of the mother and baby. In this context, 3 Baby Care Rooms started to serve in Kahramanmaraş.
