Capital's New and Modern Sports Complex Counts Days for Inauguration

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, which has signed various projects to support sports and athletes, is bringing a new facility to the Capital after Rıza Kayaalp and Taha Akgül Sports Hall. The sports complex, which will bear the name of Şaban Yılmaz, one of the most important names in Turkish wrestling history, will host oil wrestling competitions and trainings.

Continuing to support sports and athletes, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality continues to bring new and modern sports facilities to the Capital.

Having opened the Rıza Kayaalp and Taha Akgül Sports Hall, Turkey's first wrestling hall at European standards, the Metropolitan Municipality continues its efforts for a new and modern center that will host oil wrestling competitions and trainings.

In the facility, which is named after one of the important names in Turkish wrestling history, chief wrestler Şaban Yılmaz, important athletes for the sports of the capital and the country will be trained under the leadership of ASKİ Sports. Şaban Yılmaz Sports Complex will host wrestling competitions and trainings.

“THIS FACILITY WILL TAKE US SO FURTHER”

Abdullah Çakmar, General Coordinator of ASKİ Sports Club, stated that Şaban Yılmaz Sports Complex, which will be put into service by Ankara Metropolitan Municipality to bring new athletes to Turkish wrestling, is the biggest and the newest facility built for oil wrestling in Turkey, and said, “Ankara Metropolitan Municipality has a new name as ASKİ Spor. We are proud to build a facility. We will produce new Şaban Yılmazlar, new Recep Karalar, Kenan Şimşekler, Vedat Erginler Savaş Yıldırım in our facility. We will do good work here, produce new Islander Halils, Koca Yusufs, Aliços and contribute to Turkish wrestling. We thank our Honorary President Mansur Yavaş for his unwavering support. This facility will take us a long way. Today, we have become a world brand in mat wrestling. I hope we will train champion wrestlers in this facility and mark Turkish wrestling in Kırkpınar.”

Stating that they will bring new legends to Turkish oil wrestling with the newly built facility, ASKİ Sports Club Oil Wrestling Coordinator Recep Kılıç said:

“ASKİ Sports Club won many championships in the Oil Wrestling branch. Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş also opened this facility to gain new wrestlers. This is the first facility built in Turkey for Oil Wrestling. The construction of our facility took about 6-7 months and there are resting rooms, locker rooms and shower areas for 40 athletes.”

TO SERVE 60 ATHLETES

The new sports facility, which is counting the days for the opening and built by the Department of Science Affairs in Yenimahalle Macunköy, is planned to serve 60 athletes.

The sports center, which will consist of a closed area of ​​750 square meters and 2 floors in total, will have an oil wrestling field, a parking lot with a capacity of 20 vehicles and rest rooms for 40 athletes, locker rooms and shower areas.
