Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay said that four wastewater treatment plants in Cihanbeyli and Kulu districts, which they started to protect the ecology of Salt Lake, have been completed. Noting that all of the facilities have advanced biological treatment features and are built with the latest technological equipment, Mayor Altay said, “The wastewater from our Cihanbeyli and Kulu districts will be treated in a healthy way and will contribute to the protection of Salt Lake.” said.

Waste water treatment plants constructed for the purpose of protecting Tuz Gölü, which was declared a "Special Environmental Protection Area" by the Decree of the Council of Ministers, which is of great importance for the protection of biological diversity and which is a Class A wetland according to international criteria, were completed on the targeted date.

ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION WILL BE AVOIDED

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay stated that the wastewater treatment plants contributed greatly to the formation of a healthy environment and said, “The wastewater originating from the Cihanbeyli district center and Gölyazı Neighborhood and Kulu Ömeranlı and Tuzyaka neighborhoods was finally discharged into Tuz Lake. In order to prevent environmental pollution in the Tuz Gölü Basin, the facilities we have completed for the treatment of wastewater originating from these neighborhoods are of great importance.” used the expressions.

CAN BE USED FOR IRRIGATION PURPOSES

Noting that the facilities will contribute greatly to the protection of Salt Lake, which is registered as a first-degree natural site, Mayor Altay said that the facilities, all of which have advanced biological treatment, were built with the latest technological equipment. President Altay said, “Discharge standards have been selected for sensitive areas in all of our facilities, based on the Urban Waste Water Treatment Regulation. Our facilities will have long aeration activated sludge process and will remove nitrogen and phosphorus as well as carbon removal. In our wastewater treatment plants, wastewater will be treated in a way that will not harm the environment, and the treated wastewater can also be used for irrigation purposes. Cihanbeyli Advanced Biological Wastewater Treatment Plant, whose construction was completed by Konya Metropolitan Municipality and will start to serve after the test phase, is 4 cubic meters/day; The facility in Ömeranlı is 500 cubic meters/day; Gölyazı Advanced Biological Wastewater Treatment Plant will serve with a capacity of 1500 cubic meters / day and the facility in Tuzyaka will serve with a capacity of 400 cubic meters / day.
