Following the tourism investments of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality, Pegasus and Corendon Airlines companies started flights to Koca Seyit Airport.
The first flight to Koca Seyit Airport will take place on June 23 (today) at 13.30, when the Pegasus Airlines plane from Germany Düsseldorf lands at Koca Seyit Airport.
Flights will continue with the arrival of Corendon airlines from Cologne and Dusseldorf as of 29 June 2022.
The blue flag works carried out by Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality in the Gulf region from Ayvalık Sarımsaklı to Edremit Altınoluk attracted the attention of world tourism, whose coastal planning, health tourism, gastronomy and cultural studies are in search of unexplored routes. Thanks to the tourism meetings held under the leadership of the metropolitan, there was good news from the airline companies while the tourism agencies were in search of coming directly to the Gulf from Europe. Stating that the contacts made with the efforts of the Balıkesir Governorship, Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality's relevant units and the sector bear the first fruits, Mayor Yücel Yılmaz said, "Overseas flights have officially started from two European cities to Balıkesir Koca Seyit Airport." said.
Balikesir, which has been awarded the title of EDEN (European Destinations of Excellence), which is the distinguished destination award given by the European Commission and the theme of which is determined as "Health and Well-being Tourism", on behalf of our country since 2020, has been chosen as the first sea route starting from Turkey and by the European Cultural Routes Institute. With the approved “Aeneas Culture Route”, the great efforts made to become the destination chosen by European tourists, which were heavily hosted in our country in the beginning years of tourism, are starting to reap the rewards.
