CHP Deputy Chairman Ahmet Akın pointed out that the increase in the minimum wage determined for 2022, which will enter the pockets of the citizens for the first time as of the end of January, has already evaporated due to the hikes in energy bills. Akın from CHP; “Almost half of the wage increase that a citizen who consumes 230 kilowatt-hours of electricity per month, spends 300 cubic meters of natural gas per month for heating and buys fuel for his vehicle once a month, has already evaporated. 1293 lira, which constitutes 43 percent of the 565 lira wage increase that a minimum wage citizen with two children and whose spouse is not working, melted away from the first month with the increase in the bills.

CHP Deputy Chairman Ahmet Akın reminded that the minimum wage determined for 2022 will enter the pockets of the citizens for the first time as of the end of January. CHP Akın's study summarized how the salaries of minimum wage citizens have decreased as follows:

MINIMUM FEE MADE WITHOUT A POCKET

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced on 16 December 2021 the minimum wage for 2022 as 4 thousand 253 liras. Since the announcement of the minimum wage, the increase in energy bills has caused the salaries of the citizens to begin to melt before they go into their pockets. Citizens working with the minimum wage will start to receive the new wage determined for 2022 for the first time next week, but the hikes within 45 days of the announcement of the wage have taken a large part of the salary from the first month.

ELECTRIC BILL INCREASED by 160 LIRA

15 days after the announcement of the minimum wage, a gradual tariff was introduced in electricity bills. The first level was determined far below the average consumption of a four-person household due to the government's conversion of the gradual tariff into a price hike tool. The first tier was increased by 52 percent and the second tier by 127 percent. Accordingly, the reflection of the minimum consumption of 230 kilowatt-hours on the bill increased from 210 lira to 370 lira. Accordingly, the difference in the increase in electricity increased to 160 liras.

NATURAL GAS INVOICES INCREASED 185 Lira

Another increase in energy bills was in natural gas. 15 days after the announcement of the minimum wage, with the new year, the natural gas tariff for residences was increased by 25 percent. In winter, when the air temperature does not exceed zero degrees, a house with an average size of 100 square meters needs to consume 21 to 22 cubic meters of natural gas per day in order to be at 10 to 11,5 degrees Celsius. While the reflection of 300 – 350 cubic meters of natural gas on the invoice is 630 liras to 735 liras in Ankara, the reflection of 300 cubic meters on the invoice is 790 liras with the last hike; The reflection of 350 cubic meters on the invoice increases to 980 liras. Accordingly, the difference in the increase in natural gas increased between 160 lira and 185 lira in the minimum consumption for heating.

THE COST OF A WAREHOUSE INCREASED 200 LIRA

On December 16, 2021, when the minimum wage was announced, the price of one liter of gasoline in Ankara was 10 lira and 40 kuruş; The price of one liter of diesel was 10 liras 38 cents, and the price of one liter of LPG autogas was 8 liras and 23 cents. Despite the decrease in the exchange rate, the price of one liter of gasoline increased by 35 percent to 14 liras and 12 cents after the increase in fuel products. While the price of one liter of diesel increased by 38 percent, it rose to 14 liras and 36 cents; The price of one liter of LPG autogas increased by 13,5 percent and reached 9 liras to 34 cents. Accordingly, the cost of a tank of gasoline in the last 45 days is approximately 186 liras; The cost of a tank of diesel fuel increased by approximately 200 TL, and the cost of a tank of LPG autogas increased by 55 TL.

43 percent of the wage increase has already melted

There was a net increase of 2022 liras in the wages of a minimum wage employee with two children and an unemployed spouse in 1293. Since the minimum wage was announced on December 16, 2021, the difference between the increase in energy bills alone in the 45-day period since the date is up to 565 liras in total. Accordingly, the rate of 43,6 percent of the increase in the minimum wage melted away without going into the pockets of the citizens with the payment of the difference in the energy bills, which is a fundamental right.

'WE INCREASED IN THE FIRST MONTH'

CHP Deputy Chairman Ahmet Akın; He pointed out that the increase in the minimum wage started to melt away only with the increase in the bills from the first month. Akın from CHP said:

"Power sözcüThe minimum wage increase, which was announced by the workers by saying 'We will not crush our citizens with inflation', has almost melted in half with the increase in energy bills from the first month. Spends 230 kilowatt-hours, which is considered as the minimum consumption in electricity; A person who consumes 300-350 cubic meters of natural gas for heating purposes and buys a tank of fuel once a month has to pay 565 lira more to the bills due to the hikes made since the minimum wage was announced. Almost half of the 1293 lira increase that a minimum wage citizen with two children, whose wife is unemployed, will receive this month has already evaporated. The amount to be paid due to the increase in energy in 45 days has already melted 43 percent of the wage increase. This is just a reflection of the energy bills. With food inflation, the wage increase has turned into stamps from the first month.”
