The 1.7 million Euro ship will also be able to receive emergency rubbish and bilge from cruising ships.

İzmir Metropolitan Municipality is strengthening its fleet, which is involved in Gulf cleaning, with a brand new ship equipped with high technology. The new generation sea sweeper “Mavi Körfez 3”, which has the feature of collecting liquid waste of the Metropolitan Municipality and has “fast spreadable barriers” against possible leaks, was completed and launched at the shipyard in Tuzla, Istanbul. The new ship, which will provide rapid response to possible environmental disasters, will be the first in Izmir with this feature. Blue Bay 3, which is expected to come to Izmir in February, will both emergency response to possible oil pollution and will be able to receive garbage and bilge from ships in transit.

The Mavi Bay 3 skimmer also has a "Floating Storage Tank System" used in Europe. The system, designed for liquid wastes collected on board, contains a 5 m3 capacity floating floating storage tank in a folded state. When the ship starts collecting waste, the floating tank is thrown into the sea and works in connection with the ship. In case the tanks are full, another tank is started to be used by taking it to the garbage disposal centers by the inspection ship. An evacuation pump is used to empty the tanks without harming the environment.
