İZBAN pedestrian underpass opens

İZBAN pedestrian underpass opens: The underpass located at the closed Pazaryeri Junction of the İZBAN line in İzmir and connecting the Tepeköy and Muratbey neighborhoods is opened with a ceremony on Friday, October 7.
The underpass, which is a solution to the urban traffic problem created by İZBAN, an urban public transportation project realized in partnership with TCDD and İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, is opened with a ceremony on Friday, October 7. The level crossing next to the completed covered marketplace is also considered as the most important crossroad where pedestrian access is provided with the city center, especially the Torbalı Municipality building, and the junction where the two sides meet. AK Party Mayor of Torbalı Adnan Yaşar Görmez stated that during the preparation of the İZBAN project, pedestrian and motorized overpasses were built and this divided the district into two. The arrival of İZBAN is a turning point for Torbalı. If only the transportation in the city center were lowered underground, or if underpasses were preferred instead of overpasses, just like we do. We want to continue similar projects in the districts that suffer the same. We know very well the difficulties of our citizens, ”he said.
With the decision taken by the Torbalı Municipal Council, the underpass to be opened will be named after the Gendarmerie Expert Sergeant Martyr Tolga Sağlam, who was martyred in the conflict in Diyarbakır Sur district.
