RZD Launches Heavy Train Project in Russia

RZD will start tests on 12.600-tonne trains. The decision was made by the RZD Science and Technical Council. The approximate savings of the project is 15.5 Billion (EUR 400 Million) RUBLE. The comprehensive program will be presented to the RZD Expert Council by the OAO for Investment Projects, prepared by November 1.
The program will cover many areas including modernization and training of operating personnel, signaling, phased infrastructure improvement plan. RZD will arrive on 1 June 2012 with increased freight wagon operation preference recommendations.
