Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu attended the AJET Launch Ceremony held at Sabiha Gökçen Airport in Istanbul. Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Uraloğlu stated that ANADOLUJET, which was established in 2008 as a sub-brand of Turkish Airlines (THY), will continue its activities under the "AJET Air Transportation Joint Stock Company", which will be established as a 100 percent subsidiary of Turkish Airlines, in order to strengthen its competitive position in the market. Minister Uraloğlu also stated that the second runway, which will double the operating capacity of Sabiha Gökçen Airport, has been completed and will be put into service in a very short time with the presence of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Türkiye WILL BE THE WORLD'S TRANSIT CENTER IN THE FIELD OF AVIATION

Minister Uraloğlu stated that air transportation is the most comfortable and fastest means of transportation and said, "With its geographically key location in the middle of the Asian, European and African continents, located on the flight routes between developed markets and developing markets, with a flight time of only 4 hours, 1.4 billion people live and Our country, with its advantageous location in the center of 8 countries with a trade volume of 600 trillion 67 billion dollars; "It is very suitable to become the world's transit center in the field of aviation," he said.

Referring to the investments made in the airline sector, Minister Uraloğlu said, “Since 2002, we have increased the number of active airports from 26 to 57 and our terminal capacity from 55 million passengers to 337 million 450 thousand passengers. While we currently operate international flights to 50 destinations in 60 countries, we added 283 new destinations to our flight network, increasing it to 130 destinations in 343 countries. Thus, an increase of 21% has been achieved in the last 472 years. "In addition, we increased the total number of aircraft, which was 2002 in 489, to 270 today, with an increase of 813%," he said.

Minister Uraloğlu stated that Turkey will be included in the "European and World Airports total passenger traffic rankings" in 2022; “It rose to the 3rd place among European countries and the 6th place in the world. In terms of passenger traffic in 2022, our 3 airports are in the top 20 in Europe and in the top 50 in the world. “With the bridges we built in the sky, we have become a leading global aviation center in the field of aviation.” he said.

ISTANBUL AIRPORT RANKS 1ST IN EUROPE AND 7TH IN THE WORLD

Stating that Istanbul Airport, which has made a name for itself with records, also stands out with the service it provides, Minister Uraloğlu said, “More than 2018 million passenger traffic has occurred at Istanbul Airport, which we opened in 177, since the day it was opened. Our Istanbul Airport ranks 1st in Europe and 7th in the World.” he said. Minister Uraloğlu also stated that work continues at the Çukurova Regional, Yozgat and Bayburt - Gümüşhane Airports under construction and the renewed Trabzon Airport.

'AJET' AIMS TO REACH A FLEET OF 10 AIRPLANES WITHIN 200 YEARS

Stating that AJET aims to reach a fleet of 10 aircraft within 200 years and become one of the largest low-cost airlines in the region, Minister Uraloğlu said, "AJET should develop its growth strategy to increase the international connections of Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir and other cities in Anatolia." ; It will provide great benefit to our citizens and tourists who want to visit our country, and therefore to our country's tourism and economy.
