Pedaling in Antalya with the 'My Village Is Cycling' Event!

In cooperation with Antalya Metropolitan Municipality and Antalya City Council, the "My Village is Riding a Bicycle" event was organized in Çakirler, Konyaaltı district. Many cycling groups and local citizens of all ages participated in the cycling tour.

The "My Village Is Cycling" event was organized by Antalya Metropolitan Municipality in order to encourage the people of Antalya to participate in sports, reduce city traffic and reduce the damage caused by automobiles to nature. Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, which shows the importance it attaches to sports with the events it organizes in the city, also encourages citizens in rural areas to participate in sports. The "My Village is Riding a Bicycle" event was organized in cooperation with the Metropolitan Municipality and Antalya City Council. Starting with their bicycles from Konyaalti district's Cakirlar Covered Marketplace, Cakirlar residents ended their ride in front of Gökçam Primary School at the end of an 11-kilometer route.

A BIKE WAS GIVEN AS A GIFT

Many cycling groups and local citizens of all ages participated in the cycling tour. 10 neighborhood headmen in the region also supported the organization. After the bicycle tour was completed, Antalya Metropolitan Municipality and headmen offered refreshments to the citizens. Afterwards, bicycles were given as gifts to 10 students chosen by the headmen from their own neighborhoods who supported the organization.

VISUALLY IMPAIRED CITIZENS ALSO PARTICIPATED

Nurettin Tonguç, Head of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Youth and Sports Services Department, said, “We held our event in the week of April 23, as every year. It was a nice feeling to be with cycling lovers. Our visually impaired citizens also used bicycles here. "We are happy to organize such an event in nature," he said.

Fevzi Uysal, one of the participants, said, “It was a nice event. I hope that such events will continue to increase. The number of participants was very good. It was a nice tour, going at a nice pace. "I would like to thank the Metropolitan Municipality and all those who contributed," he said.
