First Turnkey Project in Major Transformation

The Metropolitan Municipality, which continues its urban transformation projects uninterruptedly in order to make Bursa an earthquake-resistant city, handed over the keys of the residences and shops in the first stage of the Istanbul Street Urban Transformation, where construction is carried out by the BURKENT subsidiary, to the rightful owners. The key delivery ceremony was attended by Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Mehmet Özhaseki, Bursa Deputy Mustafa Varank, Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş, Bursa Governor Mahmut Demirtaş, İller Bankası General Manager Recep Türk, TOKİ President Ömer Bulut, AK Party Provincial Chairman Davut Gürkan, MHP Provincial Mayor Muhammet Tekin, Osmangazi Mayor Mustafa Dündar, AK Party Deputy Chairman of Local Governments Recep Altepe and many citizens attended.

“Urban transformation is difficult work”

Expressing that they are aware that Turkey is an earthquake country and especially Bursa is also an earthquake reality, Metropolitan Mayor Alinur Aktaş said, “Making and talking about urban transformation is a difficult task. Thank God, we have come together for the urban transformation, where we will hold the key delivery ceremony and the groundbreaking ceremony via live connections. Dear Minister, you are carrying out urban transformations all over Turkey. Especially unfortunately, last year, two earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş, which took place 13 months ago, resulted in the death of approximately 11 thousand citizens and the destruction of more than 12 thousand buildings in 53-800 provinces. We know that you toured the region, both as Deputy Chairman and then as Minister, under the leadership of our President, in order to heal the pain. Bursa is one of the provinces in the earthquake zone. "In fact, our country is in the earthquake zone," he said.

“We have come a long way in urban transformation”

Stating that they continue their work at 14 different points with the seriousness of urban transformation, Mayor Aktaş said, “Although some people mention urban transformation, we started these works a long time ago and have made serious progress. Today, those who were mayors for 20 years and did not carry out even one urban transformation in a district with a population of 540 thousand are talking about urban transformation like a joke these days. But we are in Arabayatağı, Ulus, Değimenönü, Karapınar, Yiğitler, 75. Yıl, Esenevler, İstanbul Caddesi, Beşyol, Hotsu, Gaziakdemir and in short, Currently, we are putting forth all our efforts and working with the strength and support we receive from you to build new safe houses in the 420-acre Akpınar, which is Turkey's largest urban transformation, and to open the clogged veins of Bursa and open new roads. "We also produce green areas," he said.

“History came to light with the transformation in the Khans Region”

Mentioning that one of the important transformation projects is the Çarşıbaşı Urban Transformation of the Inns Region, which covers 480 acres, including 13 inns, covered bazaars and 21 mosques, the largest of which is the Ulu Mosque, Mayor Aktaş said, Mr. President, for their support to the project in order for the region to come to light and for history to breathe. He thanked Minister Özhaseki and his team. Mayor Aktaş also thanked the previous Metropolitan Mayor, Recep Altepe, and said, "There were urban transformations that started during the term of our Mayor, and we continue to increase them." Referring to the works planned in Beşyol, Mayor Aktaş said, “The connection road on which we started working in Beşyol is also a very important project. While the old structures are being eliminated, we are also renewing the intersections and roads. "Hopefully, we will start our transformations with the groundbreaking ceremony at 4 different points via live connection," he said.

“We will transform 100 thousand houses and build 16 thousand new social houses”

Stating that they will carry out the transformation works in Bursa with the help of TOKİ and BURKENT, Mayor Aktaş said, “We have urban transformations to be carried out in Arabayatağı, Ulus, Hotsu, Yiğitler, Beşyol, 1050 Konutlar. In particular, although it is called 1050 Houses, we are talking about a transformation project in which there are 2300 houses. We carry out all of these transformations either through TOKİ or through BURKENT, one of our own subsidiaries. Thank God, Bursa, which is one fifth of Istanbul, is realizing these transformations. I would especially like to point out that the transformations that we will soon initiate together with our Minister will cover more than 10 thousand residences. We implement these transformations at 14 different points. We have set a target for the next 5 years to transform 100 thousand houses and create 16 thousand new social houses together with the private sector, using our own resources to the fullest. Until 2017, BURKENT operated excavation dump sites. Now, BURKENT has turned into a transformation company with only 40 architects, engineers and urban planners. The support and contribution of our Ministry is very important in this process. Project support, TOKİ support and support regarding treasury lands are important. Hopefully, when we look back in five years, we will have accomplished important transformations together in Bursa. We are determined to transform Bursa, hand in hand, arm in arm, in order to create a resilient Bursa, hopefully through urban transformations, in this period. He said, "I wish good luck to my fellow citizens who will receive the keys and live in their new homes."

“We demonstrated the solidarity of the century in the disaster of the century”

Mehmet Özhaseki, Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, who started his speech by stating that he was in Bursa for Turkey's largest urban transformation, said that they are ready to do whatever is necessary for the urban transformations that will take place in Bursa. Minister Özhaseki said that knowing the reality of the earthquake, they attach importance to the transformation and that the housing works in the earthquake zone continue at a feverish pace and said: “We will carry out demolition and groundbreaking ceremonies on the one hand for the transformation of 10 thousand 200 houses, that is, perhaps the largest urban transformation in Turkey. We, as the Ministry, are ready to do whatever we can in this regard. As you know, we faced a major earthquake disaster centered in Kahramanmaraş about a year ago. It was a long earthquake that lasted for about 9 minutes, 3 hours apart. It is wrong to compare the earthquakes that occur 30-40 km deep under our cities with the usual earthquakes that occur in Japan, earthquakes that occur at a depth of 3-5 km in the open sea and quite far from settlements. A total of 18 provinces and 14 million people were affected by this earthquake disaster. 850 thousand residences and workplaces were destroyed. Material damages are over 100 million dollars. We cannot describe or predict the moral damage anyway. Pain and tears still continue to rise from every hearth. We made a great effort from the first day. We were at work with all our ministers and government officials, especially our President. As the Deputy Chairman of Local Governments at that time, we humbly directed all our friends, together with our 810 municipalities, to the earthquake zone. Alinur Aktaş, my President, worked for months in Hatay and Gaziantep and did great work, we are witnesses to this. A nation was standing, may God bless you. Ambassadors and ministers who visited the earthquake area from abroad said that if we had 4/1 of this damage, we would not be able to handle it. We literally turned this great earthquake disaster into the solidarity of the century. Our construction of around 300 thousand units is currently continuing. As of last month, we delivered 46 thousand houses to our citizens. We will deliver approximately 30 thousand houses by the beginning of the month. Hopefully, we will deliver around 15 thousand to 20 thousand houses to the rightful owners every month. We made a promise to the people in the container city. "We think that we have no right to be comfortable while they are living in those difficulties," he said.

“Earthquake is an issue above politics”

Minister Özhaseki, who declared mobilization as the Ministry and emphasized that services continue in the earthquake zone with an army of 110 thousand employees, said: "Thankfully, we fulfill our promises and a deputy minister friend of ours is constantly in the earthquake zone. There are those who carry out a smear campaign and make false statements regarding the existence and delivery of the houses we delivered and continue to build rapidly in the earthquake zone. Earthquake is an issue above politics. We continue to build our houses with feverish work in 4333 villages with more than a thousand construction sites. Türkiye is an earthquake region. There are currently nearly 500 active fault lines. It is unknown when and where it will break. We continue our work based on this reality. We will hold a turnkey ceremony for the first stage of our 160-stage urban transformation project by Bursa Metropolitan Municipality in the Altınova neighborhood of Osmangazi District and in an area of 7 hectares covering both sides of Istanbul Street, which is the entrance of the city from the north. We received the consent of all our citizens in this area. Today, we are proud to hand over the keys of 1 residences, 74 offices and 19 workplaces to their rightful owners. Construction of 3 more houses has also started in this area. With the completion of the construction, we will have produced approximately 1.252 houses in total in this area. "We congratulate our Metropolitan Mayor for his work in this context, and wish good luck to our deserving citizens," he said.

Following the opening speeches, the title deed and representative key delivery ceremony was held accompanied by Minister Özhaseki and the protocol. Then, the groundbreaking ceremonies were held in Yiğitler-Esenevler-75 to start the construction of disaster-resistant and resistant structures. The year was held via live connection from Arabayatağı-Ulus, Değirmenönü-Karapınar and Akpınar-1050 Konutlar.

Start was given for 5 million square meters area

In the live link in Arabayatağı, Yıldırım Mayor Oktay Yılmaz said, “We are here for the transformation of an area of approximately 5 million square meters. This was a risky area. We are producing earthquake-resistant houses in public reserve areas within the scope of demolition and transformation projects together with our Metropolitan Municipality. "Our Metropolitan Municipality will provide great support to the transformation here by producing 609 houses in the area where we will lay the foundations," he said. Minister Özhaseki held the groundbreaking ceremony of Arabayatağı-Ulus Urban Transformation, wishing for an accident-free construction process and for the citizens to live in peace in the future.

Stage by stage transformation begins in Karapınar

Bursa Deputy Müfit Aydın, who gave information about the transformation in the live broadcast in the Urban Transformation area in Karapınar, said, “There is an area of 54 hectares, 2685 independent sections and 2047 beneficiaries in Karapınar, Değirmenönü. The construction of 2 flats on 94 parcels continues. We will hold the groundbreaking ceremony for all 96 flats. "We will bring our citizens to a healthier life with our process that continues in stages," he said. The groundbreaking ceremony was started upon the instruction of Minister Özhaseki.

Expected transformation in 42 hectares area

In the connection with the Akpınar-1050 Residences Groundbreaking ceremony, Bursa Deputy Emel Gözükara Durmaz said, “We are holding the groundbreaking ceremony in the 42 hectare area, the transformation of which started with demolition. 1050 Houses have been waiting for urban transformation for many years. There were buildings in this area that had reached the end of their economic life and were at high risk of collapse in an earthquake. With the efforts of our President Alinur, we started urban transformation by approving new zoning plans. "Good luck and good luck," he said. Under the instructions of Minister Özhaseki, the groundbreaking ceremony was held at Akpınar 1050 Houses.

Transformation started in an area of 6.19 hectares

We are holding the groundbreaking ceremony of Yıl neighborhoods urban transformation. A total of 6.19 independent sections will be built in the urban transformation area of 490 hectares in total. Today, we will hold the groundbreaking ceremony of the second part of the 3st stage, which will start in 2022 in the urban transformation project, which is divided into 1 stages. "We hope it will be beneficial and auspicious," he said. Minister Özhaseki stated that they laid the foundations of more than 2 thousand houses and hoped for more to come, stating that Yiğitler-Esenevler -10. Yıl neighborhoods held the groundbreaking ceremony of urban transformation. Minister Özhaseki congratulated Mayor Aktaş for his urban transformation efforts and his will on this issue.
