Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. at the Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Local Seed Center, which will distribute 2024 thousand fruit saplings in 53 within the scope of agricultural supports. Fruit Sapling distribution ceremony was organized with the participation of Osman Gürün.
Speaking at the Fruit Sapling distribution, producer Nejla Altındal said; “Our Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Mayor, Dr., who sees the future and distributes hair goats to our women in the rural areas and provides machinery and sapling support to our cooperatives. I would like to thank Osman Gürün and his team for their contributions.” said.
In his speech at the sapling distribution ceremony, Seydikemer Çaykenarı Cooperative President Osman Uçar said; “Dear President, he gave us a 5-ton milk tank. We have been using this tank for years. If we had used the factory's milk tank, we would have had to give our milk there. Now we sell it wherever we want at a higher price. He also provided an olive screening machine. Due to these supports, our Metropolitan Mayor Dr. Thank you very much Osman Gürün.” said.

Speaking at the Fruit Sapling distribution ceremony, Menteşe Mayor Bahattin Gümüş said; “Our Mentese is an agricultural city as well as a historical city. It is a region with a large rural population. It is a city that feeds our other districts with the products produced here. Tobacco, which was the most produced in the past, no longer exists due to wrong agricultural policies implemented. Our Metropolitan Municipality says don't sell your land, sell your product. Our villagers sold a lot of land after the pandemic. However, our President Dr. Osman Gürün warned a lot about not selling it and now we see how important this is. We especially see the support given to our women. Thanks to cooperative support, our women earn significant profits. In the past, anyone who heard the name of a cooperative would run away. Thanks to President Osman, everyone is trying to become a member here now. You see, it is very important that the Muğla Plain is protected and agricultural production continues and it is not opened to development.” said.
“OUR YOUTH WILL NOT COME TO THE CITY TO WORK FOR MINIMUM WAGE, BUT THEY WILL TAKE CARE OF THEIR LAND”
Metropolitan Mayor Dr. said that agriculture is very important in order to make the producing villagers the masters of the nation again. Osman Gürün stated that Muğla is a very important agricultural city with its fertile lands.
President Gürün; “As soon as we took office in 2014, we thought about what we could do in Muğla, which is an agricultural city in terms of agriculture and animal husbandry, and we immediately implemented our projects. We brought the Soil Analysis laboratory, Turkey's first project in local governments, to our city and mapped our soil. We have implemented many projects in the agricultural city of Muğla, from local seeds to beekeeping, from hair goat support to guaranteed flowers, from fruit and vegetable drying facilities to scent valley projects. With the work we do in Muğla, 55 percent of whom live in rural areas, we want to ensure a return from the city to the village, and we want our young people to produce on their own land and get rewarded for their labor instead of working for minimum wage. The young generation will take care of their fields and lands. While doing all this work, most importantly, we rebuild the feeling of trust. We are working to regain our producers' trust in agriculture and cooperatives. We created the Forces Association to support, encourage and ensure unity of our cooperatives. Thus, with the trust of our producers and the support of the Metropolitan Municipality, we increased the quality of Muğla's products and made significant progress in their branding, packaging and presentation. Our villagers who produce in our agricultural city Muğla will be the masters of the nation and Muğla will walk to the future with hope.”
Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, which has implemented important projects to increase agricultural product diversity and ensure sustainable rural development, has started to support olive, chestnut, walnut, carob and almond saplings with a 50 percent subsidy throughout the province. The Metropolitan Municipality, which has distributed 205 thousand fruit saplings, 575 tons of seed potatoes and 578 tons of forage plant seeds throughout the province so far, will reach 2024 thousand with the 53 thousand fruit saplings it will distribute in 258. Producers who want to benefit from the sapling distribution to be made by Muğla Metropolitan Municipality will be required to have a soil analysis done to apply correct fertilization methods. Support will be provided for lands between 2 and 10 decares.
