22 Agricultural Projects were Signed for Konya

The protocol signing ceremony of 128 projects to be implemented by the Ministry of Industry and Technology, Konya Governorship, Konya Metropolitan Municipality and Konya Plain Project (KOP) Regional Development Administration with a budget of 22 million lira was held.

Speaking at the opening of the program held at Metropolitan Stone Building Culture and Arts, KOP Regional Development Administration President Murat Karakoyunlu reminded that KOP operates to support the local elements of development in a wide geography covering 8 provinces and 89 districts.

Karakoyunlu stated that in Konya, which has the widest geography in the region, they have carried out projects that will enable the region to get a greater share of the national income by working in coordination with the public institutions and local stakeholders in the region, especially the Governorship and Metropolitan Municipality, and added: "We would like to thank our public institutions that supported the creation of these projects in this process. "I would like to thank our Konya Governor for his unwavering contributions, our Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mr. Uğur İbrahim Altay, with whom we have intense cooperation, and our Minister of Industry and Technology, Mr. Mehmet Fatih Kacır, for his patronage by personally contributing to the shaping of each project that attaches great importance to regional development."

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay reminded that rural development became important for metropolitan cities after the New Metropolitan Law in 2014, and emphasized that Konya has always been the city that attracts the most attention in this regard.

Noting that Konya is one of the places where the law will be most difficult to implement, with its geographical size of 42 thousand square kilometers, 28 districts outside the center and nearly 900 thousand people living outside the center, Mayor Altay said that the issue of improving the social lives of citizens living in rural areas, completing infrastructure deficiencies and increasing their incomes by creating development models. He underlined that these are his top priorities.

Meanwhile, Konya Governor Vahdettin Özkan stated that it is important for all institutions to cooperate, have goals and create that synergy in order to increase the quality of life in rural areas and for a sustainable life, and added that the qualified human resources development agencies of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, especially the qualified human resources development agencies, are very good at this. He noted that he was providing guidance. Governor Özkan stated that units such as KOP and development agencies provide excellent services, that these services will continue to increase, and that in order for this to be sustainable, they should continue as service production offices rather than as a hierarchical unit or public institution.
